The Bok Bar, Covent Garden

This place has gone downhill. the downstairs room is shabby. Since the smoking ban you can smell the toilets throughout, conveniently situated right next to the kitchen. Range of beers poor. Staff are normally friendly and helpful which and are the only good thing about the place. I do not know why people come here.

The Globe, London Bridge

Used to go a lot to this pub as I work nearby. No longer. I don't think they keep the beer in good condition and the staff are rude and aggressive. A colleague got a pint that was off, and they told him they were too busy to do anything about it, and if he didn't like it he could go elsewhere. Problem is that as it is in the middle of Borough Market it will always be full, and they don't need to try. So they don't.

The Bleeding Heart, Clerkenwell

Quite right, none of their venues clustered around the yard can be called a tavern, much less a pub. If that is what you are after, you could go to the nearby Mitre.

However, we have had several office celebrations in the "Bistrot", and food was excellent, and not over garnished.

The wine list in the bistrot has much more choice at the lower end than does the restaurant, and house wines are good, at around 16.

I would definitely go again, in fact I am going tonight.

The Nags Head, Islington

The rudest bar staff in London. If you like being insulted you will love this place. All nearby alternatives to this place are better.

It has cozy all-wood interior, fun/friendly young crowd. Could be great, but staff are so aggressive and hostile to the punters I wouldn't go back in a million years.

The earlier comments about whipping away unfinished drinks, rudness at closing time etc are all true.

Don't go here.

The Coach and Horses, Stoke Newington

I go this pub every few weeks, mostly to watch football, and had no idea that it was gay/gay friendly. Didn't seem particularly friendly, and loud, grumpy chucking out. However, compared with the local alternatives it is a good place for a quiet beer, and the food is good
