Spent a lovely weekend here the other saturday afternoon. It's a bit of a trek out of the city centre but worth the hike. The bar staff were lovely, really friendly and we met a great crowd of regulars.
Nice beers, I enjoyed the Magic Rock Rapture.
Proper proper good pub this. Can't go wrong.

We likeee the Vox Bar. Tend to hit it late afternoon on a Saturday and value the relaxed atmosphere, comfy old settees or mismatched wooden tables, newspapers, good music and a great range of beers and cocktails. Good mixture of clientele from a few beardy locals, football fans, studenty types and just normal folk.
It's not cheap but we willingly pay the extra to avoid drinking in the Wetherspoons just across the road. Try the Vox if you fancy an untypical independent bar.

The new New Inn (as opposed to the old Old New Inn...hmm) is becoming more popular. Went through a lean spell when taken over by the Hey Green Hotel management and given a refurbishment. No longer a rock venue or football place but now smarter and more of a foodie pub. The drinks are pricey but there are great deals on the food and the portions are good. Nice rooms upstairs and friendly staff. The decor is smart with log fires etc too. Does real ales.

Sadly the Old New Inn has now closed and the building now has residential planning permission.

This is the place to come for live music. Right on the train line too. Live bands on Thursday and Sunday afternoons plus open mike on Fridays. Always pretty busy on these nights less so on others. Plenty of real ale and efficient kooky bar staff.

The Rising Sun, Mossley
Very impressed. Visited about 6pm on a friday night and it was BUZZING. Great mix of folk and I loved my Tiger Rut pint from local Millstone Brewery. Everyone speaks highly of this place and now I know why. Proper success story for Richard! Loads of real ales and also plenty of wine. Wish it was nearer the train station (it's 1.1 miles from Greenfield)...
