The Lord Nelson, Poole

Rough as a badgers behind! Full of 'locals' who stare menacingly at you until they realised your twice their size and fair better nourished. Seriously I live a few hundred meters from this place and hesitate to go in, wonderful location, dodgy dodgy people. meniceg

The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers

Locations great, Dorset is certainly beautiful, if you put this pub in a less stunning location cant help but think itd be a little less popular. There really isnt a lot to the inside apart from what may be the smallest bar in the world, outside theyve really made an effort and lets face it its the views and location that draw people to the place. The ciders homemade but average and youre going to have a wrestle on your hands if you try and get to the bar on a summers weekend. Distinct and wonderfully located a good but by no means great pub. I cant help but notice that most people that love it live a long, long way away from Worth Matravers.

The Bermuda Triangle, Parkstone

Great pub but so, so expensive embarrassed myself by thinking Id been short changed, I was wrong.

White Horse, Stourpaine

This place got expensive!!!!! Probably not worth the money to be honest. Shame

The Neptune, Boscombe

Ordered a salad for 8, received what was quite obviously a side salad, bar staff oblivious when I pointed out that my salad was in fact slightly less than half the size of the salad ‘garnish’ that came with their sandwich that cost 4.50. Have been a few times because of its brilliant location but have been disappointed every time. Pleasant enough staff but they all just seem so dim, no one appears to be managing the place. Anyone managing such a potentially wonderful establishment in a location like its got so poorly is clearly not the brightest of sparks. Poor food, poor beer, slow staff, drunk aggressive regulars.

The Malt And Hops, Southbourne

Not great, inexpensive, bar staff unbelievably rude, seemed to really resent serving me on a quiet Wednesday night. Surely the whole point of bar staff is to pour you half decent drinks and at least pretend to smile – otherwise you may as well drink at home. Toilets stank, I mean they smelt bad. Strange mix of people, generally not very friendly. Avoid if at all possible.

The Park Pub and Kitchen, Bedford

Tries so hard to be good, deserves to be ok, it isn’t. Very expensive, staff very pleasant but not very efficient, food pretentious yet still manages to be bland and poorly presented. Lots of people who think rather to much of themselves – cheap suits and shiny faces. Hard to walk to or from, no real entertainment, stop for a pint but don’t plan to stay.

The Taybank, Dunkeld

Simply one of the best pubs I have ever been in and am ever likely to go into. Amazing.

The Milton Arms, Winterborne Whitechurch

If you aint local...... My word, not exactly the friendliest pub in the world. Two pints in and no one at the bar had said a word – not even to each other!! Deeply weird.

The Wellington Arms, Bedford

The Welly is a wonderful, glorious, tremendous pub. Lived just around the corner and was in most nights of the week. Used to be quite unfriendly, almost hostile to ‘outsiders’ but has been under new management for over a year now and the staff are beautiful people who serve fantastic beer. Music when it’s quiet in the week, heaving at weekends, pickled eggs on the bar, 2.50ish a pint, loads of selection. Very, very few arseholes, though a few of the old boys take themselves a bit seriously. Good any day of the week!

The Bear, Bedford

A wonderful pub, one that makes you smile as you walk in the door. A wee bit expensive but worth every penny to get away from the mindless drones that usually populate Bedford High street.

Bar Soviet, Bedford

A Souless contrived hole, good for nothing, queues, mindless music.
