Well impressed with the newest format of the Tuesday night quiz. With a guaranteed pot every week of 50.00 its more achievable than before as there is 40 questions 20 on music and 20 on general knowledge so seems to give all who enter a better chance of winning a few quid ! a very entertaining couple of hours for an early week night. very well put together and presented very professionally too. Why not try it out ?

The Wednesday night music quiz is still a fun night to take part in with a chance to win dosh well into 3 figures .... very handy cash and a fun night to take part in as well. One of those well thought out quizzes that gives everyone a fair chance to win without being too "over the top difficult", would make a real midweek distraction instead of flicking the sky remote and arguing over what to watch .... starts around 8.30pm , why not try it out ??

Seven Red Roses, Lower Earley

There seems to be a lot of unfounded and unfair comments about this pub and i feel it should be given a fair crack of the whip by trying it out and making up your own mind before being put off by a minority who for some reason want an assasination attempt on a well run pub with a friendly atmosphere.
Every pub in the country has its fair share of characters some ok some less desirable but customers none the less. The pub is roomy enough not to sit directly with people you might not want to be around ... so move and make your time spent in there nicer if you feel the need to. The manager does a lot to promote the supported charities and has raised some good sums for various causes and theres a real fun quiz night there every Sunday night, so come on, cut the Roses some slack and allow this small pub to flourish without the need to blow it off the runway even before its got a chance to take off. AND PLEASE CAN SOMEONE CHANGE THE PICTURE TO THE CORRECT PUB !!! Thanks.

Flanagans of Battersea, Battersea

Managed to get back for a drink at this little hostelry and found it equally as good as the last visit. The food was excellent and didnt break the bank either...
Theres a new chef there now and the variety on offer was great .. everyone who i was with had something different and all commented on the quality. Portions were very generous too. It might have travelled through the gastronomic doldrums at one stage but has sailed out the other side with all flags flying !!
We even stayed on for the friday disco too for a while and had a laugh guessing who did all the 60s and 70s tunes. real fun. Working hours permitting we`ll all get back there again in the not too distant future.
Try it out.. we did with no regrets whatsoever.

The Abercorn Arms, Teddington

Its recently started a music quiz which had been running for around 3 years at another local pub before an ownership change. Screams potential for a busy wednesday night just needs some awareness created about it. Seems a fun night from around 8.30 with some good cash to be won .. up to 400 !!
A nice way to catch up with friends, have a beer or two and have a laugh doing the quiz too. Well presented too, the guy doing it knows his stuff !
Try it out, ........... theres buggerall on tv worth staying in to watch i reckon.

The Masons Arms, Teddington

I heard about the Masons from a guy at work who drinks there. He told me about the weekly music quiz and being something of an expert on the subject i got some friends together and we went to see what it was all about. I cant tell you what a really good night we had. The prize fund was(at the time of writing this) approaching 400 so well worth winning. We alas didnt win but there again no one did. It was put together and hosted by a chap called Terry Peters and i dont think i`ve had such a laugh in ages. The atmosphere was so friendly i cant think of anywhere better to spend an otherwise boring midweek night.
Wednesdays from 9pm by the way. The Masons Arms, proof indeed you dont have to be big to be beautiful ! We`ll be back very soon. (we need the money) !!

The Monkey's Forehead, Egham

This has to be the best bar for miles around as its reputation for zero attitude tolerance stands head and shoulders above anything else locally. Great atmosphere and a excellent retro disco every monday till 11.30 with a dj called Terry Peters. Plays a real cross section of stuff from 65-95 and not just all the obvious tunes either ! He also does the musically inspired quiz night there every thursday night too with some big cash prizes to win for the top score. Ive heard it can reach 400 ! so its worth having a shot at it. Obviously it going to be a bit studenty being opposite the college but hey ! thems the breaks, trust me, this bar gets the nod from me and my mates ! Pass through sometime.

Seven Red Roses, Lower Earley

I was recommended a trip to the roses by a mate of mine who goes there on a sunday night. Theres been an ongoing music quiz there for the last 9 years every sunday hosted by a bloke called terry peters. Did i have a laugh or what ?? Me and my mates had a brilliant time trying to win the jackpot prize of 400. Its one of those quizzes thats well thought out and gives everyone a fair crack of the whip to win it. Its not serious and you have a real laugh doing it. I dont live far from the pub and cant work out why i hadnt heard about it before. I give it a big thumbs up and we`ll all be back to have another go very soon. If you dont try it you`ll never know.

Flanagans of Battersea, Battersea

I found this pub by accident one friday and found it very friendly and a nice congenial atmosphere. It had a disco on which played some really classic stuff from the 60`s to the 80`s not all the obvious music but some real good oldies. No house, rap or clubby music just great music for over 30`s and onwards. Its often there some saturdays as well but not every week. The word is saturdays are really good !In the words of Arnie,...I`ll be back !

The Three Horseshoes, Laleham

Managed to get back this week to have a go at the ongoing music quiz and had a thoroughly great evening there. Had a bite to eat, a few beers with friends and had a superb evenings entertainment too.
The music quiz is the best one iv`e ever taken part in and although we didnt win ( but there again no one did this week ) the pot stands at 400.00 and rolls over to next week so plenty of scope to have another crack at it. Its called the 10/10 challenge and hosted by Terry Peters. 1.00 per head per round with the object to get 10 right on any round. Loadsa fun over 3 rounds and quite testing. I`m back next week ( i need the money !!) lol. Give it a whirl ! you wont be disappointed.

The Three Horseshoes, Laleham

A great little pub with a very clean relaxed atmosphere. Seems to have a better than average food menu than most. Portion sizes are very generous too.
Recently started an excellent musically related quiz night on a wednesday with some very useful cash to be won as well ! A nicer venue to go to on a midweek night you would be hard pressed to find locally. Give it a go you wont be disappointed. Busy at weekends is a mark of its popularity.
