The Hope, Carshalton

In my experience the pies sell out evey night (as good pies akways will) so there's no issue with stale pies. I've been eating room temperature pies in rhe Hope for months and in pubs elsewhere in the country for decades without ill effect. Of course they need to be fresh but telling a pie eater to eat refrigerated pies is likr telling a real ale drinker to drink chilled beer. Enough said?

PS can the country hunter pie tonight (pork had sold out). Absolutely excellent

The Hope, Carshalton

Good pork pies in the south of England areas rare as hen's teeth The Hope is to be congratulated in finding such an excellent supplier. Worth going for the pies alone never mind the beer.

Also, as any pie connoisseur knows, pork pies should be serviced at room temperature not straight from the fridge (which ruins the texture and the taste). Please keep them where they are on the bar, don't hide them away in the fridge.

PS - the beer is good too, there's a good ambiance and I have always found the staff very friendly.

The Horseshoe Inn, London Bridge

Went there early on Friday evening. Lively, friendly staff, friendly crowd , good decorative order, good pint of Brakespears. What's not to like?
