The London Bridge, Appleton

Moved upmarket since the last refurb. Good selection of ales but at a price. Busy at weekends and all through summer. Now attracts 'the beautiful people'

Tavern, Warrington

The best selection of ales in Warrington.

Mulberry Tree Hotel, Stockton Heath

Popular with a younger crowd. No real ale.

The Metropolitan, Didsbury

The Met is very popular and has a good reputation for food and drink. However, too expensive (2.70 for any of the 3 ales usually on offer) and beer served at lager temperature, but good when warmed a little. Price prevents us from coming here more often.

The Royal Oak, Windsor

I have been here several times. Initially very good with superb food. However our party of 10 booked for an XMas meal in mid December. No real beer to be had, even no Guinness. Food microwaved. In October I was here trying to persuade a lager drinker to try ale in Windsor and was offered very cloudy 6X. Time for us to try some of the many other pubs in Windsor.
