The Queen Dowager, Teddington

Heard a rumour that it is under new management in the new yr - so maybe things will improve here.

Definately the best pub in Teddington. Great for a drink with friends, warm and inviting. Food is good pub grub and reasonably priced. Dermot is always welcoming and ensures my friends and I always enjoy our visits.

If you think this is the best pub in Teddington then you really ought to get out more. Generally full of a load of pretentious idiots and really quite dull!

The majority of comments recently regarding this pub have been positive and I believe Mc Cartneys comments to be unjustified. This pub offers a lovely garden, live music, a good range of beer and wins and I have eaten there on a couple times and found the food very good. As far as a burger being 8 well I would ask the question as to whether Mc Cartney has eaten any where else in Teddington recently as I think you will find that is pretty standard especially when I was told by a member of staff that all the meat is delvered fresh that day from the local butcher and everything is made on site!

The negative comments about this pub being full of lager louts is 1) a bit of an exaggeration and 2) missing the point! This pub is not trying to be a gastro pub, I would certainly not go in there for a girly night out or a three course meal! I do however, think, that it is one of the few pubs left in Teddington that still shows the football, on big screens and doesnt apologise for doing so. So, if you want a nice night out with your friends or partner, in a nice bar with great food then give it a miss, but if you fancy popping in somewhere to watch the footie and have a pint then you won't have any complaints.

This pub is always fairly busy, but despite this, I find it to have very little atmosphere. The bar staff are friendly enough and the service is okay. There is a good choice of beer / wines, although they have recently stopped Stella. The food is also a little expensive for what it is. On the whole, this is an okay pub, but nothing special and if you like this place, you will like the Bloated Mallard (The Old Railway) even more.

I visited this pub recently and found any negative comments on here to be unwarranted. The decor is tasteful, the staff friendly and the wine list quite impressive. As a smoker, I also really appreciated the decked seating area that forms part of the gardens. This area is not only covered but well heated. I was also told by one of the bar staff that they have a live band on most Friday nights, which I may well give a go! I say this place is well worth a try.

The difference in this pub from the "old Railway" is amazing! As the previous comment mentioned, it is thought and a little decoration that has completley changed this pub around, rather than a majorly expensive refurb. Really good atmosphere and Sunday Roasts are good!

The Royal Oak Inn, Meavy

Had a lovely weekend in Yelverton at the beggining of Feb and this is by far the best pub for miles. Great local atmosphere, this pub is full of character, open log fire and I would agree with the last comment and go as far to say that I had possibly the best steak I have ever had here! A MUST to visit if you are ever in the area.
