Perks of Ventnor, Ventnor

The Bass is wonderful, served flat as it should be with no head. Great food but the last time I called in all the tables were reserved. Friendly place - staff and locals. I don't need any other beers but some might.

The Man in the Moon, Newport

Have been 5 or 6 times when over on Island. Well-kept beer but only a few live pumps at any one time (at least one local ale) and food is good. Nice atmosphere for a Wetherspoons and a interesting conversion from a church.

The Sussex Arms, Twickenham

Great variety of real ales but neither I, nor my wife or sister could find one that we actually liked! We only go in occasionally but the ales change and taste different each time. Do not seem to have a basic well-known/liked beer. Nice pub but not one I could spend a whole evening in. Great if you like tasting new and unusual beers or ciders and a vast improvement on what it was like years ago.

The Rifleman, Twickenham

Great 'local' pub. 4 ales (Youngs, Tim Taylor Landlord, Ringwood Best, Butcombe Bitter) I love them all. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, not flashy, if TV is on, the sound is down. Worth finding - it is 150metres behind the Prince of Wales where the R70, 281. 267 and 290 pass. Dog friendly. Beautiful garden. My wife also likes the pub. The Rifleman of Loos. Give it a go.

The Masons Arms, Teddington

Although 100 metres off the main road in Teddington, it is a good traditional pub. Good beers - Tillingbourne, Junction and another - not my absolute favourites but very drinkable, friendly lady behind the bar, subdued but interesting music, good banter. Also the double house whisky is only £2.90 which my partner likes. Only tried it in the evening so far but will give it a whirl at lunchtime soon. Toilets very clean.

The Huntsman and Hounds, Althorne

What a good pub. Looks stunning outside. Ale well kept, good variety, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food cooked to order. You need to pre-order food on Tues to Thurs. Lovely Sunday lunch. Camped for 4 nights recently and it was heaven. Mind you the weather was good too.

The Cross Keys, Blatchbridge

2 draught beers including local Butcombe bitter. Very friendly. There seem to be less drinkers than previously. Food very reasonable price and good quality. Worth stopping for a pint and meal if your are on A361 Frome Bypass. We have been going there for 14 years

The Lamb and Fountain, Frome

Brilliant local pub with Doombar that I like, and friendly staff and customers, just like pubs used to be. Wonderful views etc. Hope it goes on like this for many years. Mother has been there over 45years now!

The Royal Oak, Frome

Very friendly, well run pub - just restarted doing food each day except Mon - curry, steak, quizzes each week. Excellent Sunday lunch - do smaller portions as well. Wadworth pub which is not my favourite, but beer well-kept 6X, Henry IPA, and golden. Our local once a week or so.
