The Swan, St Peter Port

Visited this pub on a recent holiday to Guernsey. The member of staff that served us was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere in the main bar was nice; seemed to be a few groups of office workers amongst others, all very pleasant. We ate in the upstairs dining room, and the food was excellent and good value for money. I would recommend this pub for a casual drink and also for dinner.

The Star, Dinas Powys

Nice little pub. Staff are friendly, food and drinks are a reasonable price. And the meals I've had hear have been perfectly good.
I've always been able to get a table, even Friday/Saturday evenings. Think it gets busy Sunday lunchtime.
Overall, a nice place to visit for a few drinks.

Prince of Wales, Hampton Court

Went to this pub last week for lunch. Had been there once before, prior to the refurbishment, and it was pretty dark and dingey and run down back then - but at least it had some character!
Food was, unfortunately, awful. I had fish and chips, partner had beef and ale pie. Both were very disappointing. Pie looked like it had come straight from the microwave (it took about 7 minutes from ordering to receiving, so I am fairly sure that's what happened). The fish wasn't tasteless - sadly, because it really didn't taste good at all. And the chips were soggy. For the money (around 8 a meal) really not good.
The bar staff told us $600,000 had been spent doing up the Prince of Wales. It's a shame they didn't spend some that on a decent chef.

If you are in the area, I suggest you go elsewhere.

The Cricketers, Croydon

Agreed - a nice, cosy friendly pub. Good atmosphere, pleasant bar staff, and an enjoyable Thursday night quiz. Great place to avoid the Croydon masses; not a checked shirt in sight! Worth a visit..

The Town Hall Tavern, Manchester

A friendly and quiet pub in a side street away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. I visited recently (on a trip up from London) and there were plenty of seats on a Friday night. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Decor and toilets could do with some attention, but great for a reasonably priced pint and a chat with friends.
