Balham Bowls Club, Balham

I've had some excellent pints and good food here over the past couple of years. However I went in last night and it really is starting to look very, very tatty (yes I know it's shabby chic but there is a limit!). I might go back if I become a tramp but otherwise will steer clear.

The Selkirk, Tooting

Was supposed to be studying all day at St George's but after a shitty couple of days decided to take a break and head here for a roast and a couple of pints because 'I'm worth it'! I had the slow roast pork belly-mmmmmmmmmm. The best roast I've had in a very long time accompanied by a couple of well kept ales. The staff were friendly, there was a nice mix of families, couples and regulars in and some good tunes in the back ground. Suffice to say I didn't get much more study done but my soul was edified! Recommended.

The Eagle Ale House, Clapham

Have been sampling Drafthouse's extensive collection but getting fed up of the extortionate prices and lack of atmosphere when quiet so been to the Eagle a few times recently. I have to say what a fantastic pub. The selection, quality and price of the beer is great. Surrey Hills Greensand IPA and Pilgrim Porter the tastiest beers I've had for a while. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and now the autumn's in there's not one but two open fires! One of the best proper beer pubs for miles.

The Wheatsheaf, Tooting Bec

Called in early evening for a quiet couple of pints and a read. Had a great couple of pints (Harvey's Best and Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted). Had four more beers on the go too which was good to see. Staff not exactly the friendliest and getting a bit bored of the formulaic vintage tat of the antic chain. A beautiful building like this deserves better but at least the place is still open! I'd still go back for the beer though.
