The Trackside, Bury

Poor beer choice recently. Very uninspiring. Sadly many people are deciding to drink elsewhere because of this.

The Trackside, Bury

Unfortunately, the dross from the Clarence (now shut) seem to have discovered the place and use it to get tanked up on strong perry. The management need to start taking a stronger line with the idiots or they'll lose their core trade. The beer choice has also deteriorated in quality recently but what is on is always in excellent condition. Still the best pub for cask beer in central Bury but still has its problems.

Bar Fringe, Manchester

Very inconsistent for beer quality. Not one to rely on I'm afraid. I agree with the comments about the staff - they need to be sent on a course!

The Rose and Crown, Bury

Used to be a superb pub - used to have great beer and a great atmosphere. Sadly the current regime have little interest in decent beer or professional service. A pub that's been rapidly going downhill for the past 3 years. I don't bother much anymore but last time I went in with a local quiz team (who've been using the pub for years) 3 pints of vinegar were returned to the bar but the infamous landlady refused to change them. The quiz team, like many old regulars, have voted with their feet and now drink elsewhere. A terrible shame - once one of my favourites! I can only hope we get a new landlord/landlady soon who understands why the pub used to be so popular!

The Knowsley, Bury

Was always a terrible pub - sad place.

However, it looks like the refurbishment has been done tastefully and the addition of real ale will make it an attractive venue albeit uninspiring. Hopefully the management will run the pub properly from here on - i.e. real ale and a firm hand with idiots.

The Lamb Inn, Bury

Superb, well run pub! The very professional landlord keeps a great pint of George Wright beer. Well worth a visit.

The Smithfield Hotel, Manchester

Unfortunately the management of this tatty pub seem to have lost the plot of late. The Smithfield was always worth a visit for the beer but sadly they now take great pride in openly flouting the smoking ban - usually from 10pm onwards. The manager on one recent visit was smoking behind the bar and was nothing short of aggressive when we raised the issue. We were informed that smoking is more important to his trade than the beer....what a shame! I certainly won't be visiting the Smithfield again until they reassess their prorities.
