Cock Inn, Werrington

Gets better and better. This has always been a lovely building, but going through a quick succession of owners left it pretty soulless. Now it is well run, has great bands, good food (and I am VERY picky with my food), welcoming and friendly staff and a good atmosphere regardless of crowd size. It has a massive car park which I always thought a bit odd - but welcomes motorbike weekenders so there is often a great view while popping out to the warm and dry smoking area. There is a good sized green lawn area with seating - and where they don't mind you eating fish & chips from across the road (with a pint!) or a Chinese from around the corner. Best venue in Werrington (vying for best pub in the village with The Plougman great pub terrible venue thanks to Tesco).

The Three Horseshoes, Werrington

I really like this pub. We used to call it 'The Slaughtered Lamb' because of the VERY 'locals only' (I've only been living in the village for 11 years!!!) vibe but since it came under new management I really enjoy stopping in for a quiz, rocking out to the bands and having a tasty pint or G&T.

The Wortley Almshouses, Peterborough

I love The Wortley - wonderful building - one of the last left after Jones Lang LaSalle gutted the city to build Queensgate. The beer is cheap, tasty and cheerfully served. I recommend this place to all visitors and locals. It's an oasis of calm on a Saturday night and I generally find an excuse to drop in if I'm out shopping. Great stuff.

The Ostrich Inn, Peterborough

I agree with all the comments below - come on guys, change the awful picture!! I come and drink here whenever I'm out in town - great little boozer. After I've had a few I start to regret that my feet no longer stick to the floor and that the toilet does not leak... but all round the changes are for the best. They've done a great job.

College Arms, Peterborough

I find this place terrifying. It is always filthy dirty and full of scary drunk people. Stay away!!!!!

Charters Bar, Peterborough

I love this pub. Been drinking, dancing and eating here for my entire drinking life despite living in an outlying village. I've never thought of it as shabby - as some of the other comments suggest - but I suppose that's because of familiarity! The range of beers & ales is excellent, they are Oakham Ales but their guest range is impressive, and they have always had a good selection of spirits. I love wine but have only ever ordered it there from the restaurant - which has an acceptable range. Their Thai restaurant offerings are of a consistently high standard - and their service is of the best in town! I recommend this place to every one.

The Brewery Tap, Peterborough

I've been drinking here since it opened, and along with it's sister pub Charters - is one of the safest bests in town for a good pint with a good crowd and with good music. The food is nowhere near as consistently good as in Charters - but on a good day it's fantastic.

The Cherry Tree, Peterborough

This is a really nice local pub. Has a function room with good local bands, the service is quick and cheerful and if you're passing, I'd recommend it..

The Comet, Peterborough

This is a good little local pub. It is nothing amazing but does not claim to be. The service is quick and cheerful, the food is fine for the price and so is the beer. Nothing offensive here.

The Fitzwilliam Arms, Peterborough

I've popped in to this pub on and off for the last 15 years or so, and have never been given the incentive to do so more than once or twice a year, even when my (ex) fiance lived at the end of the road! I had a horrible experience there Sept 2011. My friends and I have cycling pub tours in the summer & The Fitz Arms is on the route. We were hungry and a friend suggested we eat there, I was at the bar waiting to be served and commented that the food was not that great - my exact words were 'bog standard'. The landlord heard me, and refused to serve me. He then instructed his staff to serve me last! I was glared at, insulted and so, not only is the food bog standard but the service is appalling. I will not even be stopping off there for a pint in future.

The Botolph Arms, Orton Longueville

The Botolph is definately a 'local' pub - but the staff are friendly, the drinks are tasty & cheap! and the surroundings could not be more beutiful - classic English country house charm and authenticity.

Off the beatren track so never overly busy - and the perfect stopoff for an after work tipple!
