The Marlborough, Richmond

It's a nice pub that sells Young's beer now, but 8.05p for 2 pints and a small bag of KP nuts.....???!!!
That's simply too much for a drink and much as I love Young's beers, It's put me right off.
I know it's Richmond and they can obviously get away with these prices, but I think that's just plain daft.

Walkabout, Putney

I suppose this place may appeal to you if you're just one of so many moronic, under-educated, flip-flop wearing, arrogant, piss-stained little Yob-Oiks who just happen to be either from South Africa or Australia and thinks you're living on the beach, but you really do a poor job at representing your countries.
Please take your sick-encrusted persons down to the water's edge of the Thames and just keep on walking.
This pub was once the Red Lion, a traditional London pub with a lovely facade catering for everyone. Now, you have a hard job avoiding the beer/sick/piss/chewing gum/cigarette butt stains on the pavement left by these Amoebas as you walk past. Shameful.

The White Cross, Richmond

I've always been quite fond of this pub as I used to drink here with my late Father.
Good range of beers within a very pleasant riverside setting and quick, efficient bar service.
I have a particular resentment though, when it comes to the extremely rude way I have observed the staff shouting aggressively at quiet and respectable customers to finish their drinks even before the pub is due to close.
Everyone knows the staff are keen to go home after a busy night, but at this particular pub they are renowned for going about this in an inappropriate and entirely unnecessary fashion, which could potentially drive many customers away.
A little more decorum please chaps...

The Marlborough, Richmond

There used to be plenty of space to sit inside this nice pub with a pint and I was pleased when I heard it was to become a Young's pub, but since then on recent visits my friend and I have begrudgingly had to walk out as the service has been painfully slow and most of the room is now reserved for diners, with a few (and usually occupied) leather sofas, unless you arrive stupidly early.
The only alternative is either to be very, very patient for a drink and sit outside in the pleasant garden -which is fine in Summer, not in Winter... or take a walk around the corner to the Roebuck where there is usually more seating.
Better training for staff, a few more seats inside for casual drinkers and keener pricing on the beer is desperately needed here in my opinion to really bring it up.

The Lass O'Richmond Hill, Richmond

Quite a pleasant place to sit inside with a pint in the Winter months -if you can find a seat that is, as half the place is given over to diners and the menu is somewhat on the pricey side.
The service however is slow at the best of times, as they seem far too busy serving over complex food.

The Spread Eagle, Wandsworth

This is a beautiful original Victorian London pub with gorgeous long bars, positively dripping with original carved mahogany and etched/cut glass backings.
The Young's beer is excellent and the landlady bent over backwards phoning around other local pubs to try and find some bottled Young's Double Chocolate Ale for me, while one of the regulars at the bar proceeded to talk bollocks to me -Now you won't get THAT kind of service in a snotty bar/bistro!
They also put on private functions with nice food.
Long may the Spread Eagle continue to serve us as a real no-nonsense London pub before we all disappear up our own assholes.

The Coach and Horses, Barnes

This is a proper old fashioned English pubs pub. Nice friendly atmosphere without any pretentiousness.
Pints of good Young's Beer topped to the brim of the glass by very efficient and attentive bar staff and plenty of seating outside in their lovely garden. You can usually find a seat inside too.
My only criticism is the disposal/selling off of some beautiful original features such as the granite runners that were laid through the main entrance for the drays deliveries of yesteryear and a lovely etched/cut glass back window which has long gone. A sad and irreplaceable loss of this Young's pubs heritage.

The Oddfellows Arms, Pulborough

My wife and I visited this pub on a Sunday in December 2008 and I regret to say were not made to feel very welcome by the Landlord or the few regulars gathered around the bar.
We were served by the unsmiling Landlord and found ourselves a place in the large and somewhat empty Saloon area.
It has been some years since I've been served a drink with lipstick around the rim. We both felt so uncomfortable we left shortly after wards without finishing our drinks.
I wouldn't entertain the idea of eating at this establishment.
Odd Fellows indeed...
