The Walkford, Walkford

A favourite eating place, always good food at reasonable price and with quick service. Never had a bad experience in numerous visits.
Looks like a good place as a local for a few evening drinks, although unfortunately I'm not local enough!

The Crown, Northbourne

Further update - reopened in November after its brief closure for a refit ... what a transformation! Much modernised with wacky local-history features including a fantastic Bournemouth-based mural on the dining room wall and a blown-up historical Ordnance Survey map watching over everyone from the ceiling. Now open till 12 on Fridays and Saturdays.
Brightened up throughout but still a brilliant pub with great food and a good vibe. And never so busy that you can't hear what anyone is saying.
Keep up the good work!

The Baring Hall Hotel, Grove Park

Now reopened (just before Christmas) so the Baring Hall is saved from the bulldozer. Still a lot of work to be done inside by the looks of it, and a local news report says they hope to have a kitchen up and running shortly. Lots of good ales on tap, and a promising start. Hope it does well. Rating 8 with potential for higher!

The Talbot Hotel, Winton

Sadly closed a couple of months ago

The Phoenix, York

Lovely pub, and has a bar-billiards table. It's getting a 9 from me for that reason alone!

The Crown, Northbourne

Time for an update on my local, because I've been here a bit more frequently of late!
It really is a fantastic, relaxed local and, for such a small out-of-the-way place, has a really good menu of great food at reasonable prices. Your obvious beef pie, skillets, fish & chips, burgers and whatnot, and also some fantastic more unusual things like the picnic pie and the fidget pie, which are both yummy.
All in all, a great place either to eat or to meet for a few beers, in friendly not-too-busy surroundings.
A feature (some might say down-side) of the pub is the fact that it has never to my knowledge extended it's 11 o'clock time bell. (I presume it opens later on New Year's Eve!)

The Lion Inn, Telford

Oops - forgot to give a rating!

The Lion Inn, Telford

Visit as a drinker, not as a diner - it's a lovely, small, cosy pub and if you're in at closing time you don't have to leave promptly!

The Dorset Knob, Parkstone

Now open again - but not been in there so cannot rate!

Graduate, Sheffield

A fantastic pub, love it! Going to the snooker at the Crucible wouldn't be the same without this brilliant pub just across the road!

The Lark Rise, Winton

I can never forgive Eldridge Pope for doing away with the famous old "Pines" to the pre-club bar (but there are no clubs!) that it became, about 10 years ago. After a few years pretending to be something it's not, it was refitted and ironically renamed the "Famous Old Pines"!

So now it's just a generic, rowdy, loud place which I'm afraid does nothing for me!

The Brunswick Hotel, Bournemouth

A nice pub, a bit on the expensive side but a good place to relax over a few beers on a Friday night.

Worth visiting just to see the remarkable "outside inside" smoking area!

The Crown, Northbourne

A great local to visit either for a meal or just for a few evening pints. Friendly both sides of the bar. Happy to have it just down the road!

The Horse and Jockey, Bournemouth

Not my locallest pub but always happy to take the extra walk (and extra stagger back) to visit this lovely friendly pub. Some good Ringwood (and other) ales, a good friendly bunch of staff, nice cosy bar, can't go much wrong here.
