The Dolphin, Eastbourne

Lovely relaxed atmosphere during the week but can get busy and noisy on Fri/sat nights, but then doesn't everywhere? Friendly staff, log fire, beautifully kept beer and great food. And doggy friendly to boot - a terrific place.

The Brewers Arms, Martinstown

A splendid village pub with a cosy feel. Ringwood bitter was well kept and the food is excellent and good value, especially the Sunday roasts. Occasional folk music nights are worth looking out for. Doggy friendly too - brilliant!

The Old Ship Inn, Dorchester

Well kept beer, though over-priced, and the menu is pretentious and unappealing. The decor is somehow reminiscent of a solicitor's waiting room. What was the brewery thinking of? This pub used to have atmosphere. Now it's more like a television lounge in a cheap 1970s hotel.

The Borough Arms, Dorchester

Oh dear, this once pleasant and historic little pub has become a dreadful dive, when the management can be bothered to open it, that is. Badly kept beer and surly foul-mouthed yoof now seem to be the norm, and the pub company seems to be letting the building go to rack and ruin. Best avoid for now, and hope for better times ahead.

Tom Browns, Dorchester

I drove up here from Portland a couple of weeks ago to buy CAMRA Beerex tickets. The manager seemed to take great delight in telling me he had none, and no, he would not put any aside for me when he had more in. He gleefully informed me that the other pub in Dorchester selling them was not open that lunchtime. Naturally I went to the Blue Raddle later in the week.
Now I see that the man behaves fraudulently as well as rudely. I would not recommend this pub at the moment.
