The Seven Stars, Chancery Lane

Like this pub a lot. The Broadside is on top form. I can email the addresses of a few All Bar Ones or other similarly bland sh*tholes to those whingers who don't like bar staff to have opinions or personalities.

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

My favourite pub in London. Brilliant beer, great live music and an interesting crowd.

The Blue Posts, Piccadilly

The bar staff here, led by the endlessly cheerful Michael, are great; the beer - Tim Taylor's Landlord, Leffe, Hoegarden - is excellent; the food is good; and it's incredibly central (surrounded by lots of substandard boozers). What else do you want?

Bradleys, Fitzrovia

God, I used to love this bar: the jukebox, the kitschy decor, the fact that it looks like it last had a good clean in 1972. But then I turned into a boring old fart, and now it's always busy and some of the drinkers seem to have disappeared up their own anuses. I'm probably just bitter because they're young and good-looking.

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

The Wenlock is a one-off. Live jazz (or blues), a great range of beer, an eclectic mixture of drinkers (a few of them certifiable). It's relaxed, unpretentious and unpredictable. The only problem is that I always end up staying too long and drinking too much.
