Fishpond, Matlock Bath

Visited here on a recommendation. Very wide, varied ale selection seemingly well kept, and although nothing at all wrong with it the place is just a bit sterile for me. Personal preference and all that! Probably won't rush back. 6.

Kings Head, Bonsall

Surprised by comments below, found this a cracking little pub with very friendly land lord who gave me lots of tips about the local area. Batemans on top form. I was the only customer at the time but would certainly recommend.

The Buffet Bar, Stalybridge

Thursday afternoon so not the crowds previous reviewers have noted but excellent ales, ciders and good service. Lots of interesting wall displays add to the character. Always worth a visit if you're passing through! Can't fault it at this minute...'

Wellington, Greenfield

Very good pub. 5 min walk down hill from station, good, well kept ale selection very reasonably priced and pleasant decor and atmosphere. On a par with Railway Hotel, if you visit just two pubs in Greenfield, make this one of them!

Excellent. Great ale, friendly bar man, good character, and great views out the window! Well worth a visit.

The Wharf Side Inn, Slaithwaite

5 minute walk from the station, this place is well worth a visit. Spacious pub with well kept ales and whilst the decor is slightly more old fashioned compared to The Commercial and the beer selection not as wide, the Wharf Side seems to have more character. If you're going to visit two pubs in Slaithwaite, i'd make this one of them! 8.

The Commercial Hotel, Slaithwaite

Very good pub. Very wide selection of ales, with the local brew very keenly priced! Unlike many places that specialise in ale, this is actually somewhere my wife would approve of - the decor is reasonably contemporary and ambience friendly! Worth a visit.

The Square Peg, Birmingham

Not one of the better Wetherspoons. Always a good range of beer but despite it's size it's always very busy - not one for a quiet drink! I generally like wetherspoons but this is one I tend to avoid.

The Church Inn, Hockley

Superb. Now an Everards pub, great quirky interior with roof top terrace an inspired addition! Young staff friendly and engaging. Wide range of cocktails to complement the ales. Definitely a 'must-visit' in the Jewellery Quarter! (Aug 2013)

The Red Lion, Cricklade

Stumbled by this place completely by accident and what a treat. One of the pubs I've ever been to and that's an awful lot! Ten ales, though most on the strong (+5%) side, but they also sell in 2/3 pints so didn't matter I was driving. Great 'heritage' decor, friendly and knowledgable barman, even locals made me feel welcome.

Didn't eat and was fairly quiet being a Tuesday afternoon, but just what i needed at the time. 10/10.

The Rambler Country House, Edale

Admittedly only ever visited after long walks in the hills when a pint is needed, but I've never had a bad drink here. Good selection of ales (4 today) always well kept and served with a smile.. Scenic beer garden summer, log fire for winter, just what the doctor ordered! Never eaten here though..,
