The Plume of Feathers, Crondall

Pub grub, but OK and good well kept ales. Nice bar area and real fire.

The Horns, Crondall

Average home cooked style pub grub. Nothing special. Would not choose to go here again.

The Waggon and Horses, Hartley Wintney

This was our 2nd visit and we are still not impressed by this pub. We are fans of real ale, but unfortunately not of Courage. The only other available real ale was average. Have been spoilt by an abundance of Real Ale Pubs in Somerset, since moving to Hampshire, the local pubs just do not come up to the same standard. They are all average except for the Anchor at Lower Froyle which has some class. The food at the Waggon and Horses is average as well, basically everything comes with heaps of chips unless you go for sandwiches or baguettes. Cod and chips (Cod is not fresh but processed fillet so you might as well buy it yourself from the supermarket and save yourself 7.50). Lastly what ever you do, don't expect to pay by Credit Card they only accpet Cash, which wasn't apparent before we ordered.

The Highwayman, Yateley

Best Pub in Yately, but that doen't mean I would go back there when there are so many better ones elsewhere in Hampshire.

Cricketers, Yateley

Another average Pub. Definately not worth the high rating of 8 before I voted. Again I think there is some rate fixing going on, on this site. Not everyone wants entertainment. Some just want a quite pint. There seems to be a lot of competition in this village between all the pubs.

The Anchor Inn, Yateley

Not worth 8.4, only came here because of the rating on this site. Never again. Very average pub. Aweful decor, only redeeming feature is well kept Doombar, and pleasant courtyard garden which I suspect will be very noisy at peak times due to kids play area including trampoline next to it. Loud music in bar and TV. I suspect this pub is trying to cater for all just to survive the current economic climate and most of the voters for this pub are well meaning friends.

The Queen's Head, Dogmersfield

Visited lunchtime after receiving a flyer through the door. It said exccellent range of beers and local real ale. (Yes still only one real ale on pump, rest bottled). Beer a bit more expensive than average. They describe themselves as the Queens Head Pub, but it feels more like a restaurant. When you go inside initially if feels big then you realise the very large mirrors behind the bar are giving that illusion and when you look across you see yourself looking back! It is acutaly quite small. There was some seating outside though. It is a lovely building but is lacking in something and I think there is no area where you can just hang out for a casual drink, because the emphasis is on food. The food is very well presented but not sure about their claims. The menu said the pork belly in cider is cooked for 9 hours, but I do not believe this as it wasn't as tender as you would expect and it was fatty. We believe the sauce is made with cider. Was not impressed by the accompanying red cabbage. The menu is available online queensheadpub.co.uk Having read the previouse reviews I have to say there is no Thai theme now more italian.

The Anchor Inn, Lower Froyle

I visit regularly as this is a lovely old pub with beams, and bags of atmosphere. The Ale is always interesting, regularly changing and well kept. Food is very good restaurant quality and adventurous. I do not recommend the Ploughmans as it is not what you would expect, (not enough cheeses and too many pickles/pickled eggs) and bits not normally associated with a simple ploughmans. Perhaps pickles should be optional. Family friendly generally, but would recommend families with young childre not use the small bar area at the end where drinkers just like to come in for a quiet drink. Large seating/restaurant area the otherend more suited for families. Finally, if you are over 5' 5" mind your head.

The Tweseldown, Church Crookham

Good traditional pub with Horse Racing theme. Generally nice and Quiet, no noisy families (they usually go out the back! ). Interesting 'pub' food ie Rabbit and Ham Pie. Good well kept Real Ales. Reasonable Prices. Best table is in front of the large open Log Fire on a winters day. Good everyday pub.

The Foresters, Church Crookham

This is my local, but I would not go very often as it is too pricey. The food is good but menu doesn't change often enough. The chefs don't always produce the dishes to the same standard on each visit which can be dissapointing if you don't like chilli for example which might be chucked in on a whim. Beer well kept. Interior clean and has the Canadian cabin feel. Located on the edge of Woodland with Public Footpaths which lead all the way down to Fleet nature reserve and the Railway Station (A good long walk for a day out).

The White Swan, Stow-cum-Quy

May 2011 Excellent Real Ale, generous, well cooked & presented pub food. Very friendly staff and Landlord. Made us feel very welcome. Would go again.
Traditional Pub, not a modern makeover without any character.

The Crown Inn, Churchill

Excellent and unique. I've visited this pub for a good 10 years, and hope it never changes. Please don't do any modern makeovers.
Always a good selection of Well kept Real Ale and hearty simple dishes. You can sit there and imagine your are in the 1900's rather than 2011. Christmas day is lovely at the Crown. With its flag stone floors, beams, two big crackling log fires and Oak mouseman pews. I know it well. The toilets are in the garden so be warned. Gets crowed in the summer so avoid Sunday luntimes.
