The Plough Inn, Far Forest

Unpleasantly over crowded.
The food is very good, carvery or the small choice from the menu. Probably in the top 3 of carvery meals I've been to.
The best thing this place could do to improve things is reduce the number of tables to allow people to eat without feeling as if you have your neighbours elbow in your dinner.

However, as the place is often full and overcrowded it seems most people are happy with the overcrowding. Even I've been 3 times.

The Old Swan, Netherton

This is a great pub, lots of atmosphere and lots to see. Almost a museum but still a good pub. Well worth a detour. Good value lunches too. The restaurant and parking are in the rear - this is a typical "lounge" bar. The main bar is often busier and is probably more interesting.

The Railway Inn, Newton Abbot

If you are connecting a train Not many choices nearby so maybe just settle on this one.

Ok for the station. Directors was cloudy. Guinness was good. Locals packing the patio making the place look untidy. A blokes pub. Strong smell of bo and cigars in the bar. Ok for a quick pre train pint.

The Rose and Crown, Halesowen

This pubs usp is the tv screens for sport. Even the outside smoking area has a tv screen.

The pub is usually busy bu the staff work hard and service is fast.

There is a vague air of dangerousness about the place with large groups of partisan locals. Never had an incident but never felt entirely comfortable either.

Pub has wifi

The Bell and Bear Inn, Rowley Regis

I'd go here often to have a pint but recognising that its not all about the beer it is worth mentioning that the place has problems. This used to be a great pub but it's going down hill, becoming dingy and in need of a good clean up.
The place had a good reputation for food and unfortunately a lot of infrequent visitors are in for a shock. The food is terrible - possibly the worst pub food I've ever had. The menu choice is good and the pricing is ok to high but the food quality is very very poor and often badly cooked. Frankly my advice is to avoid the food here and get some chips either the olympia or the our plaice. The chinese takeaway down the hill is also ok.
The beer selection remains very good and there's a good crowd of drinkers with a safe and friendly atmosphere. Still the best pub in the area for a pint of ale.
The Thursday night quiz gets a good attendance (starts about 8pm) which is good if you like quizzes and terrible if you like to chat over a pint.

The Doric Arch, Euston

One of my favourite drop in pubs. Good service not too crowded. Good range of beers and practically next to the platform for the train home. A gem.

Swan and Railway, Wigan

Popped in for a swifty whilst waiting for a train. Only one other in the pub. Friendly enough, clean, beer good. Would go back. 2 ale choices available today.
