Salisbury, Cosham

Closed and now a CO-OP!

The Water Rats, St Pancras

Nice bar/pub with good service and music but way too expensive. £4.70 for a pint of Whitstable Pale Ale is pushing it so not surprised there were only 2 other people in

The Lucas Arms, Kings Cross

Popped in on a Monday evening, nice atmosphere and quick efficient service from the two pretty barmaids. One kept calling me 'lovely' which made my night. Ales in good nick and not expensive. Food was excellent value, £10 for a mixed grill which was very nice. A really good pub and would happily visit again when next in Kings Cross area.

Dragon Inn, Birmingham

Popped in on a cold Monday evening. Prompt and polite service. Had a couple of pints of Tring Brookmans Winter Warmer which was in good condition. Went back the next day for breakfast again good service, food good. No complaints and would happily come back when next in area.

The Royal Standard, Lyme Regis

Visited in Aug, nice atmosphere especially the big cheer that went up as Jess Ennis crossed the finish line. Live music is a regular feature. Expected the place to be packed out on a Sat evening but found we (Family of 5) had choice of tables. Good prompt service, Palmers is just that little bit better in here compared to Cobb Arms but food is slightly more expensive. Food arrived surprisingly quickly and was very good. All in all a good experience.

The Cobb Arms, Lyme Regis

Visited in Aug, Plenty of tables available. Service prompt, Palmers ales all good, very expensive 3.60 a pint but then this is Lyme Regis. Main meals all around the 10 mark, very good sized portions. Pub is definately geared up towards food and perhaps suffers in the atmosphere department. Nonetheless, good service, good beer and good food.

The Sack of Potatoes, Gosta Green

Nice pub with a real mix of clientle with good service from the bar staff. 6 Ales on tried Butty Bach and EPA both in good nick. Decent good value food.

The Kings Head, Lichfield

Visited on a Thursday evening, Live Jazz playing and nice atmosphere. Pub looking a bit tired, beer below par, you shouldnt have a pint of Pedigree that needs a flake in it!

The Grosvenor, Nottingham

Was staying at hotel across the road where staff where miserable as f**k so tried this pub directly opposite where the staff obviously come from the same charm school! Shame, because there was a decent beer choice, bombadier, broadside and another which were well kept. Locals were friendly enough but were clearly the only ones of interest to the bar staff. Could be a lot better, 5/10 but only because of the beer.

The Kings Arms, Waterloo

Visited for first time on way back to Waterloo, nice atmosphere, mix of locals and suits. 7 ales on, only had time to have a quick pint of Dark Stars 'Old Chesnut' and very nice it was too, other offerings included Boondoggle, TEA and Broadside. Will return when next in the area.

The Cat and Fiddle, Great Barr

Decent locals pub with Banks on handpump, decent food and good value, not anywhere new as bad as its low rating, 6/10 for me.

The Tennis Court, Perry Barr

Visited a few months back, improved beer choice with EPA and Bass on handpump both in decent nick. Fun quiz with friendly locals. Didnt try food but looked good and judgeing by the menu good value. Excellent curry house next door which doesnt have a licence so great place to have a few wet ones to cool you down.

The Cobb Arms, Lyme Regis

Usually go on holiday at least once a year to Lyme and this is overall our favorite pub if we are eating. Went in with the family mid-week, found a table easy enough. Service was very good from the polite young ladies behind the bar. Has the usual range of Palmers but sadly on this occasion no Tally Ho. I only get to drink Palmers when I am in this neck of the woods and think this is better than many of the posts I have seen. Everything more expensive this year but food tasty and decent portions all washed down with a couple of pints of 200.
