The John Snow, Soho

Not a big fan Sam Smiths beers (with the exception of taddy porter) but this is still a great old boozer. If you want a proper old school pub then give it a whirl.

The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden

Now reopened following refubsihment and I for one are absolutley gutted. Awful shit coloured wallpaper has been applied all round and the ceilings have been painted in totally inapropriate colours. Fullers have ruined this gem of pub. Shame on them.

The Prospect of Whitby, Wapping

Chalk up another one for the disapointed group. Being on of Londons oldest pubs I was keen to pay a visit. Finally got around to it this evening. I was hoping to step back in time a few hundered years on entering but found the redevelopers had got there first. Gone are all the original features only to be replaced by modern Olde Worlde Charm. Way too Disneyland for me. Won't be back.

The Bear and Staff, Leicester Square

Been here on a couple of occasions recently and have to say I've been quite impressed. Beer seems to be well kept, food is reasonably good and the staff are fairly pleasent and efficient. Not really somewhere I'd want to spend a whole evening in but for a couple of pints and a bite to eat in the afternoon it ticks all the boxes for me.

The White Swan, Covent Garden

Called in here 'cause we wanted somthing cheap and cheerful to eat. Didn't expect much and didn't get it either. Sandwich was OK but worst chips I've ever had anywhere (and that includes the ones the wife makes). Shall be more choosy in future.

The Lamb, Bloomsbury

Called in here for a couple of pints after hearing good things about it. Nice old interior, decent pint but awful tartan carpet everwhere. Would go again if in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to visit.
Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food.

Swan on the Stray, Harrogate

Formerly the Black Swan now reovated and re-opened as the Swan on the Stray. Nicely done out and the landlord knows his beers. Good selection of real ales which are well kept and changed on a regular basis. Always seems to be something new to try on every vist. Food served as well but haven't eaten there as yet. Well worth a look in.

The Maltings, York

Bit of a gem this place. Great staff, excellent beer and good food. Olde Worlde decor with a few quirks thrown in (there's a toilet bowl serving as a seat in the bar). Well worth a visit.
