The Valiant Trooper, Aldbury

Very enjoyable visit on May 26th. Good range of well kept beers and real cider. Very good atmosphere and very good menu/food. This is a good example of how to run a pub well - can't say this about too many pubs these days

Jolly Butchers, Enfield

Had 3 nice bottles of Stronghart here on boxing day evening. Yes - Stronghart returns and only 2.75 a 500ml bottle. Pub was fairly busy (Spurs on TV) but quite friendly and comfortable

The White Horse, Parsons Green

Yes, the recent festival was superb,

The food is superb and not that expensive considering the quality and the area the pub is in. Good wine list too and of course a great range of beers

Nice ambience about the place - upstairs are is a great addition. Seems very well run.

Roll on next festival

The Albion, Barnsbury

Nothing seems to have changed since my similar review a few months ago. I know that many pubs in Islington have 'sharp' service and also a bit of an 'attitude' but this place takes it to a new level.

Such a shame as it is a nice building with a great garden. You can imagine that you are in a country pub.

The Hop and Berry, Islington

Yes, this is more a restaurant than a pub but what a great place. Interesting real ales, wines, bottle beers. Excellent food, nice little garden (with resident door mouse that ate the crumbs!). Friendly, helpful service which seems hard to come by in certain nearby establishments.

The Albion, Barnsbury

Popped in for a drink yesterday about 11.30am. Nice building and just like a country pub. Detected a bit of an 'atmosphere' with the staff. This is very much a food orientated pub with virtually every table laid out for food. Also at least 3/4 of tables were reserved (at 11.30am??) .So I got a drink and sat in the excellent garden on one of the few tables that were not reserved. After a while, one of the staff came up to the table. He didn't ask if I was eating but instead slapped a reserved sign on the table and walked off. I got the message and left for the Barnsbury nearby where the welcome was a little less frosty.
