Lewes Arms, Lewes

Fabulous Front Bar.
Terrible beer selection unless you enjoy Fullers or Harveys.
Very much an all day food pub.
Fabulous landlady, moody bar staff and friendly bar staff.
Old locals have moved on and drink elsewhere nowadays.

The Oak, Warwick

I am now back to being a regular visitor to The Oak. The beer selection is good and varied and the quality is excellent. The 'new' owners and bar staff are very friendly as are the locals. The pool table and darts board prove to be very popular. I would recommend a visit.

The Drunken Duck Inn, Barngates

If one accepts the fact that the food and the room lettings business together with the on site brewery keeps the 'pub' running then this a very good destination for visitors and 'locals' alike. A good range of well kept excellent ales. A fine selection of wines and spirits. Fabulous food. Friendly staff. A place to overnight for CAMRA members who want to offer special compensation to their suffering better halves.

The Mermaid, St Albans

This pub has so much potential. Even though the landlord is very likeable and truly passionate about beer he is not passionate about this pub. His own Alehouse beers are, on the whole, excellent and all others are well kept. Hophead is a regular. One can never be sure if food will be on or the 'Thursday' Cheese Night is running. The Mermaid desparately needs a deep clean. If the Landlord receives a better offer,eg. darts or Wolves FC, the pub and it's customers come last and suffer. Soon all of the regulars will have gone elsewhere and become infrequent visitors.

Neptune, Hove

I have enjoyed The Nep for many years now. On Friday and Sunday evenings one can experience excellent live music. The locals are fabulous and on the whole full of character. The staff behind the bar are fun and friendly, however, sadly a new 'manager' is now in place. He is without question upsetting the staff and has a tendancy to be grumpy and rude. Even worse he knows very little about beer and has taken the decision to remove Dark Star Hophead, 'too expansive' and 'too much waste'. The current beer range is focused on dark, sweet, malty beer and is well kept.
