The Woodman, Primrose Hill

Still closed and even has a large whole in the roof with numerous slates missing.

The Ivy Green, Moldgreen

No real ale; it has a hand pull for one (can't remember which) but it's never on. It pleasant enough with decent decor and has Skysports but not the place if a decent ale is the main criteria.

Green Cross, Moldgreen

This real ale pub has just been open for a few months and I've only managed to make it in a couple of times but it's already one of my favourites. From memory, It has five real ales and last time I was in it has Barnsley Bitter from the Acorn brewery. It's cosy and clean inside with a small bar directly in front of the entrance and small seating areas to either side. Behind the bar there is another larger area where bands play and there is also a compact terrace outside at the back of the pub. It means that for those in the south-east of Huddersfield there is no need to go all the way into town for a decent choice of real ale.

The Rat and Ratchet, Huddersfield

Great pub - It's got a festival array of real ales and some top continental beers but it is one of the best places for real cider I know of in Yorkshire with regular offerings from Thatchers! Added to this it does not have pool and the juke box has proper music played at a level where conversation rules!

The Riverhead Brewery Tap, Marsden

I used to go here a few years ago and it was good but the transformation is incredible. You can now look out at everything going on by the river while drinking one of a selection of great ales. It does get very busy from Thursday to Sunday and the staff sometimes have difficulty keeping on top of it but it's definitely worth a visit. Also, if it is crowded on entry (unfortunately the bar points out towards the door which can cause a jam) ease your way down to the left where there is generally space.
