The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

Really enjoy this place when having a quiet catch up with friends and football with a fantastic selection of beers.
However, bar staff can be occasionally huffy, and busy nights tend to be nightmarish thanks to some total morons who turn up.
One day I will have tried each beer at least once, but always come back to the Chiller, which is just a nice refreshing, quaffable beer suitable for watching footy with

The Prince Edward, Bayswater

Quite a nice place to frequent from time to time, and one of few places where I am happy to go to on my own.
Fairly decent enough beer selection, decent food, and a nice relaxed atmosphere

The Prince Albert, Notting Hill

Is an ok place, but I often get made to feel like I am scum by the bar staff. Average beer selection, decent enough menu.
All a bit touristy given it's location, which (to me) tends to affect the feel of a place

Champion, Notting Hill

Have had a few hit-or-miss experiences here, but is generally a good place on a "quiet" occasion for relaxing.
Pretty good selection of beers and decent looking menu (only tried a roast so far).

Westbourne House, Bayswater

Dull place with awful atmosphere. Keep turning the lights down and down and have an almost clinical style of decoration that leaves me cold.
For beer, it's not worth it as they don't have much on and insist you sit down and they will bring you your drink, sneeking in a rip off of a service charge.
More of a cocktail and wine place if you don't want any warmth

De Hems, Soho

Used to be a particular favourite of mine this place, but is slipping down the pecking order.
Great selection of Belgian and Dutch beers, which seems to be decreasing lately, and adding things like Budweiser and Desperado, which don't seem particularly in keeping with the whole "Dutch cafe" ethos.
Usually have pretty decent treatment from the bar staff, but have heard of others (not on this site) who haven't had great experiences.

The Red Lion, Leytonstone

As a fan of all Antic pubs I visit, this is by far the top of the pile. A vast selection of drinks on offer which spoils me for choice, but luckily has all of my 3 favourite uk brewerys on offer (which is quite a rarity).
Have only eaten here once so far, but am very impressed. I would happily have paid a lot more for my meal in a restaurant.
Great atmosphere too

The Earl of Lonsdale, Notting Hill

It's quite hard reviewing pubs that follow a similar pattern in it's chain, and with this Sam Smiths pub there is no exception.
Cheap food and cheap drink made by their own brewary which is all great. Nice mix of snugs and open areas along with a really decent sized beer garden. Usually fairly quiet when I've been in, but Saturday daytime was hugely busy with tourists visiting Portobello Road market.
If it was just a tiny bit closer to where I live, I would be spending a lot more time in here

The Porchester, Royal Oak

This pub is equidistant between my house and office, and I'm quite happy with it. Pretty good beer selection (although we do often pour scorn on anyone ordering the rubbish beers that you can get anywhere. Seriously, they could be drinking so much better).
Food is ok, but concentrates a lot on providing many different burgers which doesn't leave a great choice. I've had a roast here four times, two great, two poor.
Nice enough atmosphere with ok music, board games and colouring competitions.

Like so many pubs these days, seems to suffer from "booking tables syndrome" but you can usually find somewhere to perch.

Brockley Jack, Brockley

Used to really like this before they changed the decor and lost some of it's ambience. Decent food, standard booze, but lacks something in buzz these days

Jam Circus, Brockley

Used to live near this place and was regularly drinking and eating here. I went back time and time again until I moved out of the area.
Still, if I'm back in the area, I will try to make it to Jam Circus. As with all other Antic pubs I've been to, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks selection and great decor.
Writing this is making me want to trek back across town for another visit

Royal Albert, New Cross

Another of my fave pubs in London. Great staff, exceptional food, brilliant drinks selection, fantastic ambience. As an Antic pub, I'm starting to instantly fall in love with their chain as they are definately doing something right.

The Montague Arms, New Cross

One of the oddest pubs I've been to with odd opening times and very odd decor, yet I totally love this place. Always a good atmosphere and run by what must be the oldest bar team in the country, they even know all of the prices and sums like the backs of their hands.
Stocks some Sam Smiths drinks (always a bonus for me) and I'm told do a good sunday roast on the cheap (yet to be discovered personally).
Not somewhere I would go back to often, but a wonderful place for an occasional visit

The Birds Nest, Deptford

Great punky pub that was a little daunting at first and I've now settled into the great vibe here. Not an amazing selection of beers but they have added Estrella on top, which has proved quite popular.
Good gigs on quite regularly, friendly staff, friendlier locals

The Westbourne, Westbourne Green

Not for the first time, I visited this place expecting it to be a better occasion than the last. Not for the first time, this visit was worse than the last. I always seem to leave the bar fuming at the stinking attitude of the bar staff. This time because I dared to order some drinks using basic politeness. This was not received well and was greeted with huffs and snarls while my money was snatched from my hand and change tossed back at me.
Unfortunately it very much seems that if you are not dressed like the "in" crowd of the pub you are clearly made to feel unwelcome. Such is the attitude from the staff I have received on several occasions, this often sullies any potential enjoyment for the venue, including a very tempting and exciting looking menu.
The beer selection is ok, if rather plain in this day and age (for a venue of that stature). The clientele also provide interesting people-watching opportunities as posh Notting Hill types who have heard of the East London style, but are too scared to venture across town.
I've given this place my last chance
