Tried this pub for the first time last night and thought it was excellent - good beer, good atmosphere, proper fire, friendly staff, didn't eat but clearly lots of contented diners in that evening. Left to have a pint at the Elms Shades (our original intended destination) but quickly came back again and settled in.

Have been going to this pub on and off for a number of years and it is always a 'safe pair of hands'. Spent a very pleasant Saturday lunchtime/afternoon here last week as part of a walking group of 14 which descended on the pub without notice. They nevertheless accommodated us all for lunch with no bother. Butts Jester and Traditional were enjoyed by us all (except for the designated drivers of course). Definitely recommended.

Called in here for a couple of drinks last Sunday evening whilst holidaying in the area. Very friendly local, welcoming staff and customers, good atmosphere. Didnt eat so cant comment on the food but clearly some very satisfied diners there that evening. Very nice Butcombe, also Ringwood Best on offer that evening. Well worth a visit if youre in the area.

Just visited the Plough for Sunday lunch. Food very good, large portions, extensive specials board. Badger Fursty Ferret & K&B Sussex both well kept. Good atmosphere with walkers and locals dropping in for a pint as well as diners. Tried the Mars Bar cheesecake as recommended by previous reviewer - thanks for the tip! Overall, well worth a visit.

Visited here for thr first time 19/7/08, lovely pub with great views, very nice Brakspears Oxford Gold, didn't have a chance to try the food unfortunately. Only criticism, landlord not very welcoming, but probably not fair to judge on the basis of one visit. Would definitely go back.

The Bladebone Inn, Chapel Row
I was really surprised to see no reviews of this pub as it seems to tick all the boxes. Visited with some friends on Saturday afternoon, friendly staff, local beer (West Berks Good Old Boy) and a good Suffolk Cider. Great location for walkers on the edge of Bucklebury common, interesting history, didn't eat this time but plenty of other people were. Looking forward to a return visit.
