The Black Bull Inn, Market Overton

Visited this pub on 18th August 2010..i would like to say that the balance of this pub is just right. The couple are very pleasant and the food was excellant.
I travel the country accessing run down and closed pubs...It is pleasing to see so much passion that are articulated by he current owners.
Give this pub all the support you can, it deserves to succeed.
Iwill give it 9/10

The Walnut Tree, Runcton

Visited on30th June.
Had a decent meal in lovely surrounds...Woman behind the counter was miserable and unfriendly...Could have ruined a good visit if i had let it.
Her attitude could have started trouble between nuns.
Put a smile on your face love...

The Good Intent, Brislington

Knobs

Think you visited the wrong place mate...May be similar patrons but respectful and well behaved. The loyal patrons and authorities are very appreciative that they have a clean and professionally well run pub by decent staff.
Perhaps you one of the handfull that, regardless of progres you would be happy to see the pub closed.

The Good Intent, Brislington

Pub closed a few days earlier than expected.A health and safety issue has been raised prior to works starting on Weds. The early closure is a safety reason, otherwise starts on extensive work could not commence.
Check out facebook under Good Intent Brislington i will update all information.

Boffo obviously does not know me.
I have no intention of coming to the Good Intent until i take over, and that when i am there like in the previous 15 years i have no intention of being "pissed up"

The Lifeboat, Thornham

I find some of the comments amazing.
You have an amazing pub and restaurant, exceptional customer service and the food good. Some of he comments that have been made are truly unfair and perhaps deemed slanderous.
I visited on Sunday and was welcomed the moment i stepped in the door.
The place is probably full of visitors during the Summer and that sometimes puts the regulars off, but that is all part of a succesful destination pub.
I am sure if it relied on just its local base it would not be open now.
So where do the regulars go for a day or week out,do they visit other people's locals.
Somebody spoke about scruffy kids...How about giving the parents some credit for taking the kid's out with them instead of finding fault.Or would they prefer them to be causing problems on some street corner.
Give this pub what it deserves, support and understanding.
By the way i am a Londoner..I have respect..do some of you?
I am going to rate this pub a 10.

I write with admiration of those who have kept the comments flowing over the past couple of years. Some more accurate than others, but all agreeing that the pub has declined considerably.
Perhaps now is the best time to declare what is happening at The Good Intent.
On the 22nd of March the pub will close for 4/5 weeks whilst essential repair and redevelopment works are carried out. These will include New windows,Signage and External Lighting, new flooring to the bar area and remedial and decoration works.
The kitchen is being stripped out to be replaced with brand new equipment.
Other work is planned but has to be deferred until planning is agreed.
Enterprise Inns have asked me to come back and re-establish the pub back to the community pub that it once was.
I am as passionate now for this pub as i was when i owned the lease from 1995-2008 and i hope that i can count on the support it once had.
The refurbishment is costing me approx 100k which shows my commitment to the project.I will not reopen until the kitchen is fully functional and operational as this was always an important part of The GI.
A press release will appear soon and a direct letter will be sent to all those that i have on my data base.In the meantime i have Opened up a Good Intent Brislington facebook page to help keep people informed and to listen to all views.Perhaps the few who have been using this site can help me pass on the contact details. What i put on this or the facebook site will be fact. Thanks for reading.
