The Enterprise, Holborn

Ornate Victorian pub. Great pint of Pure Ubu. We visited on a Saturday afternoon when pub pleasantly quiet and very relaxing.

The Perseverance, Holborn

Huge huge improvement ! Back on the must visit list. Years ago this pub was a fabulous real ale haunt, then declined to a rubbish Irish place then rubbish gastropub. Now it has a range of real ales, range of cask beer and a brewery in the basement, The Bloomsbury Brewery. I shall go back to being a regular visitor. The Bllomsbury bitter and pale ale are great.

Harpsfield Hall, Hatfield

New Wetherspoons that opened in 2015. Large, bright and spacious with a decent range of real ales. Usual menu of good food at reasonable cost. Good pub in a beer desert.

White Hart, Southwark

One of the best pubs in this area. Great Victorian corner pub in a street of otherwise bland or ugly modern buildings. Space inside is limited due to large island bar but room to stand outside and ideal place in good weather. Staff are excellent as is the beer - Timothy Taylors Landlord a favourite. Pub is full of character.

The Ring, Southwark

Very popular and busy pub opposite Southwark station. Great range of real ales.

The Blue Posts, St James's

The old Blue Posts was demolished along with the whole block. Happily the block has been rebuilt and a new Blue Posts has arisen. It looks bright and spacious - alas when I went there to meet friends the entire pub was closed for a private party, much to my disgust and considerable inconvenience. It is common for rooms to be set aside for a private party but not the whole pub. I have no intention of ever setting foot in here again (not that I got further than the door anyway). A pub that won't let in paying customers is no use.

McGlynns, Kings Cross

Friendly traditional Irish local in a quiet back street. Pleasant to sit or stand outside in good weather. Usually 3 real ales on. It is hidden away but popular with locals and commuters. The best pub in this area. I discovered this pub many years ago and have been coming back ever since.

The Charles Dickens, Southwark

Great traditional pub with 6 real ales that constantly change. The pub was rather tatty inside and is now closed for refurbishment. The lengthy closure is due to development of the flats upstairs, otherwise it would be closed for a much shorter time. I eagerly await it's re-opening. My current rating was based on the availability of real ale , reasonable price and TV's to watch sport.Once the scruffy interior has been tarted up the rating should improve.
