The Andover Arms, Hammersmith

One other interesting statistic. The three pro Refurb BITE members seem to have recently become BITE members (this week). Additionally the only pub that they have reviewed is the Andover Arms. Of the Seven anti Refurb BITE members only one has exclusively rated the Andover Arms. The majority have are long time members with multiple pub reviews.

Right. Current count 3 BITE users for the new refurb 7 BITE users against. A trend perhaps?

Oh Well. A pity that a pub so fine and so appropriate has been raped of its character and charm. A gastropub in a pub with a kitchen smaller than most maisonettes? Absurd. Been four times since the "Doing up" All during mealtimes. I have seen four meals go out. Total.... The chef's presentation of the food leaves much to be desired. A full fish sitting upright and coiled around the plate like a snake? A hamburger with a cucumber placed on it as a garnish? Come on. Oh PS. The do up coincided with the landlord's quarterly 4 week disappearing act. He has not been around to hear the long time regulars point out to him the error of his ways. I rated this pub a 10 when it was run by Tom and Mora. I downgraded to a 7 when the new landloard took it over and started playing music and generally allowed the interior to degrade. I downgrade again. Beer is still kept ok but no more charm. I have no desire to hang around more than one or two pints to catch up with friends now. Searching for a new local around. Not much to choose from.

The Magpie and Parrot, Shinfield

Very Nice Pub of the old style. Free peanuts! Friendly Land Lord. Should be on the tourist route. Absolutely the best pub in the reading area. Quiet pub, no music, no sport, no children. Brilliant

The Grove, Hammersmith

This is a restaurant and not a pub. Only London Pride on and not at all well kept. The food can be hit or miss depending on who is cooking.

The Dartmouth Castle, Hammersmith

This pub has real come around the past year or so. Although there is only one or two real ales on most of the time (London Pride and one other). The just recently were awarded the Cask Marque. The food is pretty good for an average gastro. Certainly on our return list for a nice meal.

The George and Dragon, Thames Ditton

Nice Pub in a very nice town. But I agree TOO MUCH SPORT. We stumbled upon it on the day of the England - Scotland Rugby match. Whoops. Won't do that again.

This is a proper pub with wonderful proprieters. The way a pub should be. Friendly staff and locals. A pub cat that owns the place. Beer is kept well as the landlord is a master cellarman. Don't miss this gem

The Anglesea Arms, Hammersmith

Very Nice Atmosphere in the Pub area. Haven't eaten here. Beer is well kept. Staff is a bit unattentive. Fills up quick in the evenings.

Thatched House, Hammersmith

Believe things have gotten better since the last review. The beer is well kept. The Staff is very friendly and the food is very nice. As far as price, well it is London.

The Swan In The Rushes, Loughborough

Good Ale Prices. Ales are well kept. Bit Smoky but that will change soon enough. Staff was friendly enough. Very popular pub.

The Boat Inn, Stoke Bruerne

Very Nice pub with good food choices. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bit of a mix up on what was available on the menu but the barkeep was very good about fixing the problem Area on Canal side of the pub is very nice. Skittle Bowling room for use.

Black Cock Inn, Blythe Bridge

Wonderful pub. The proprietor made us feel welcome even though we where out of towners. The Sunday Lunch was great (Choice of Beef or Pork Roast) with all the trimmings. You can tell he cares about his customers and his reputation. the regulars in there are just as friendly and seem genuinely interested in you. Definitely stop by this pub if you are in town.
