The Oval Inn, Sutton In Ashfield

In need of renovation, this is an estate pub with an unknown future. The locals tend to welcome outsiders more than the staff. Handy, out of the way pub to take the knock-off to.

Fox & Crown, Skegby

I have only been here once in the autumn of 2005. It is a little out of my way, as I live in Sutton town centre, but I must agree with the other reviews I have read so far, what a great place, THE most friendly staf I have ever encountered, and the regulars treat me well also. I wouldn't feel intimidated watching a match here. (I don't like football). I'm told the food is good, but haven't yet tried it. If you're from out of town, and you're travelling the A38 bypass, this is the one to hit!

Nags Head, Sutton In Ashfield

Recently refurbished in an excellent style to accomodate the day-to-day passing trade of the town centre, and the weekend evening nightlife. A very well thought out interior. The staff are brisk and pleasant. I can see this pub's day-trade going from strength to strength. I cannot yet comment on the food as I have not yet tried it.

Picture House, Sutton In Ashfield

Usual Weatherspoons venue catering for the less-well-off. No proper access for non-smoking disabled diners, who have to use the main entrance tables to eat, limiting smokers priviledges even further. Quite clean but spoilt by poor service and over-enthsiastic enforcements leading to various violent outbreaks by non-conforming visitors.

White Swan, Sutton In Ashfield

I live very close to this pub, though i don't use it too often. It is clean, but in need of refurbishment. The staff / management could be more polite to strangers also. It is convinient when waiting for a bus. It is listed as a station for wireless internet, though, having changed hands a few times in 2005 / 2006 I'm not sure that is still the case. In late 2005, this has been a meeting place for the weekend sutton pub crawl, and has been known to close early due to lack of trade later in the evening.
