The Tom Cribb, Piccadilly

The wife an I visited this place last sunday afternoon, just after 12ish. The pub is Shepard Neame and offers the usual ales (Bishops Finger, Master Brew etc). The wife an I opted for the Late Red. Maybe it was the first drink to be pulled through that day but the ale wasn't very nice. I'd return, just to give the place another chance because it is a very nice quaint pub. I'd visit a bit later in the afternoon though.

De Hems, Soho

The wife and I had lunch in here last friday. As the previous post states, the food menu has been reduced. We wanted to try the Frikadellen as a main course but had to order it as a 'beer bite' along with a side dish to make it a meal. Again, as previously posted, the Frikadellen is actually sausage with red onion in a bread bun.

The last time I visited they had Maredsous on tap but no more, I had to opt for a bottled beer as the draught selection was poor.

Whilst the drink and food tasted nice, I probably wouldn't go out of my to visit here again.

The Dog and Duck, Soho

A very nice and very small pub. Unfortunately, the wife and I only visit this place in the afternoon as it gets ridiculously busy at night, especially weekends. We popped in late last friday afternoon and tried the two guest beers. I can't remember what they were called but both were really nice.

Fitzroy Tavern, Fitzrovia

Spent last Saturday night in here after a nice meal in Soho. The place was busy but we managed to get the last table in the corner. Even though it was busy it was friendly and welcoming unlike so many pubs in the area. A Sam Smith's pub with the usual beverages on offer, I opted for the Stout and my wife had one of those bottled cherry beers; the stout was superb. We stayed until closing (1100hrs) and had a very nice night.

The Princess Louise, Holborn

The wife and I popped in here for a quick drink last saturday afternoon. A very cosy Sam Smith's pub - they had the fire on which was a nice touch given that it was so cold outside. I had the Stout and the wife had the Cider; both were very nice. This is a very charming pub with a lovely interior. We'll definately visit again.

The Nellie Dean of Soho, Soho

The wife and I popped in for a quick one (drink) before our evening meal on saturday. I had a very nice pint of Courage Best. The pub was very busy but we managed to find the last available seats. The ale selection wasn't exciting - Green King IPA, Deuchars IPA and the Courage were the only ales on. There isn't really much on offer to entice me back but I'd probably pop in if I was nearby and needed to quench the thirst.

The Dog and Duck, Soho

I visited here with the wife on saturday evening. I usually opt for the TT Landlord but decided on Thwaites Nutty Black as it wasn't very strong (3.3% I think) and we were due to quaff a bottle of wine at a nearby restaurant. It was ok but I've had a lot better black ales. I will definitely return (we always do) and have the TT Landlord.

Bradleys, Fitzrovia

I always pop into this place with the wife whenever we're in the area - it's fantastic. We were sat right next to the jukebox (possibly the best jukebox in the world) just having a couple of beers. Nice pint of Guiness and an extensive selection of lagers which pleased my wife (not that she drinks a lot!). I'll definately be coming back.

The Essex Serpent, Covent Garden

Had a drink in here with some mates the other night and found the place rather nice. It wasn't very busy for a saturday night and was completely empty downstairs. The ale was nice and we enjoyed a good hour in the pub. I'll definately return.

Slug and Lettuce, Aylesbury

I visited this establishment last week and found the place pretty average. The only ale on offer was London Pride which just passable for one pint - I never ordered a second. The other two lads had overpriced intermediate lager (Fosters or Carling); don't remember which. We only had one drink and left - a pretty soulless place.

The Grapes, Aylesbury

This place is a disgrace! Me and two friends decided to pop in on a friday afternoon; there were only two others in the pub but none of the bar staff came across to serve us. We had to ask to be served and the young ladt behind the bar raised her hands in the air and declared that she wasn't old enough to serve us. The 'landlord' was having a chat with the other two guests and basically ignored us. We decided to leave without having a drink. The pub is a joke - I will never return.

The Chandos, Trafalgar Square

A pleasant place, serving a myriad of drinks - all are Sam Smith's though which does surprise a few visitors. I don't find it that cheap to be honest - maybe because I was drinking the Sam's Stout which, in my opinion, is better than Guiness. Unfortunately, on my last visit, some strange street perfomer, laden in silver make-up and making a rather silly hissing noise, decided to enter the bar. A regular stop on the way to Covent Garden.

The Garrick Arms, Trafalgar Square

I don't mind it in here - a pretty decent pint. A friend and I only popped in when the heavens opened and completely drenched us. This rain was a blessing in disguise as the barmaid decided to add to my already sodden shirt with someones lager shandy. A quick apology and it was forgotten, but low and behold, her greasy palm let her down again as my pint was released, ten-pin bowling-esque, towards me. Luckily, I caught my flailing drink and only received a wet sleeve from slippage. I'd visit again, but only to see this barmaid in action.

The Bear and Staff, Leicester Square

A very nice pub with a good selection of real ales. The only downside is it's popularity - it's normally two or three deep at the bar by seven on a saturday evening. A friend and I waited about fifteen minutes for service and gave up. I've been here plany of times and never had a bad pint; one of the best pubs in the Leicester Square area.

The Tom Cribb, Piccadilly

I've been to this pub several times with my wife for a quiet drink on a saturday afternoon and always enjoyed the ale and atmosphere. Only downside was visiting with friends at the weekend and were refused service because we were a 'big group' (5). I was slightly stunned as the place wasn't heaving; I even offered to buy the drinks and take them outside to drink, but to no avail.

The Blue Posts, Piccadilly

A very relaxing little place with a nice pint of TT Landlord. I love these little streets in London where you can find a good pub.

De Hems, Soho

We always tend to start here on a pub crawl; usually because you can try a european beer before commencing with the real ales. They do a nice Dark Beer, but it's strong at 8%. Nice meeting place. No ales though.

The Harp, Covent Garden

This is my favourite pub in the Central London area. Nevr had a bad pint - on this occasion (fri 03 Apr) I had a quality pint of Landlord whilst stood outside.

De Hems, Soho

Went in here on friday night - about 7-ish. Very busy with plenty of suits sucking on big cigars!! Had a dark beer from Belgium I think - pretty average. A mate had the strawberry beer and that was pants. Service is pretty fast for a pub that was heaving.

Molly Moggs, Soho

I was very disappointed with this place. Four of us went in on Saturday afternoon - about 1 o'clock-ish to find it dead. The reason became soon became apparant - both the ale and lager wasn't on. The barman blamed the temporary staff left in charge the previous week. Thankfully he directed us to to the Three Greyhounds around the corner.
