Bridge, Shawford

Went for a meal this evening. Everything seemed an improvement on recent reviews. Speed was good, food quality good, beer range good. The decor seems to have been toned down a bit since my last visit. My impression is that it has improved in the last month or two. Food price not low, but not too bad for what you get.

Royal Oak, Cardington

Stopped here halfway through a walk. Excellent beer and atmosphere. The food looked like fairly basic pub grub, but good value (we didn't eat on this occasion).

The Red Lion, West Meon

This pub is now closed and for sale.

The Thomas Lord, West Meon

Went for lunch for with 2 other people. We had the 2 courses for 15 deal and the food was excellent, although the service was a bit slow (partly due, I think, to them being almost full with a special event of diners who all came at about the same time). Beer OK. I thought the ambience is good and the vegetable garden at the back is very impressive!

The Boat Inn, Penallt

As good as I remember, when I visited over the recent bank holiday. The beer range appears to be smaller, but is more than made up for by the cider range.
Food quality good, friendly and welcoming.

The Fox, Ellisfield

I feel a bit fraudulent posting this, since I didn't have any beer and it wasn't in the evening...
We stopped here on spec while cycling, before 11am, and found the pub not officially open, but the landlord was very welcoming and he made us an excellent cup of coffee. I will try certainly try again, at a more conventional time.

Had a good meal in the evening. Speed of service, both for food and at the bar was very good, better than last time I tried. Food seemed to be of good quality and an interesting range on the menu.
