I agree with the other 2 reviews - mostly. Food and drink is good quality and average prices. Try the giant cod & chips!! Yes, the premises are lovely but the bar area & toilets let the place down. The bar is tired and a bit grubby, some clean glasses have lipstick marks and the toilets are postively Dickensian, and bloody cold in winter as they are practically outside. Just needs some money spent on it to make it so much better! Because of these faults I can only give it a 6.

A good honest local pub. It can get a bit noisy with loud music and a huge TV both blaring at the same time, but the beer makes up for it! There's a constantly-changing selection of four real ales which turn over quickly so are in excellent condition, and a good selection of other beers and ciders too. Food is simple - from freezer to table via fryer or microwave but it's cheap and the portions are good. It's no frills and they are aiming for a different market to the other 2 places in the village The owners (yes, it's a rarity - someone actually owns their own place!) are very friendly and manage to keep the prices reasonable. Recommended.

Taken over by new landlord in 2007 (?). Now sells excellent real ales at affordable prices, and good food in the renovated Stable Bar. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

The White Swan, Eardisland
The place looks clean and the setting is nice (not far from the river, with outside seating) but it's such a let-down. Beer (Wye Valley) is ok but expensive compared to other local pubs and the landlord & landlady do it no favours. She was outside smoking prior to going in to cook some food when we arrived a couple of weeks ago..... He was miserable, couldn't care less, and didn't even say thanks when I left our glasses on the bar on the way out. It'll be a cold day in hell before I go in there again.
