The Royal Standard, Cambridge

Now reopened, very pleasant and a nice pint of Wherry, but why oh why do all pubs have to have bloody brioche buns. I don't want my burger on cake.

The Snowdrop, Lewes

IMHO food not as good as the Lewes Arms, but a real variety of stouts when I went, great little pub

The John Harvey Tavern, Lewes

Never had any problems other than getting a seat, the food is ok and standard pub grub, but the Harveys Best from the barrel is sublime

The Kings Head, Lewes

Haven't eaten here but the beer is fine, I agree though with the last reviewer it does have a restaurant feel

The Lansdown Arms, Lewes

Its ok for your first pint when getting off the train, but I always move on to somewhere else. The beer is ok, but the person who said it had a student union feel is spot on.

Lewes Arms, Lewes

Great beer, great food, always lively, and I love the old layout of the bars. My Australian mate from Melbourne wanted to take it back with him to show Aussies what a real pub should be like.

The Elephant and Castle, Lewes

People in the bar letting their dogs on tables, average food, ok beer not that great

The Severn Gorge, Telford

Toby Carvery, been there a fair bit because a colleague like roast dinners. Good value food, but the beer is pretty ordinary and it does seem to attract some noisy types.

The Thomas Botfield, Telford

It is a Wetherspoon's with all the usual pluses and minuses. I did pop in there for breakfast once and was a bit surprised to see quite a few blokes supping lager at 8.30am, but this is Telford.

The Lion Inn, Telford

Best pub near the Telford mall, and just far enough away to still have a village atmosphere. Always good beer, and coming from the South East I don't think the food is pricey, and it is home cooked rather than run through a microwave, so excellent all round.

The Townhouse, Eastbourne

Visited recently, new owners running it but a bit clueless. A family with kids that were running around screaming playing chase, was totally ignored by them. In fact the barman was busy chatting with a woman behind a column and my mate virtually had to go over and call him to the bar to get some service.

Food very ordinary, someone else who had been there told me that the previous owner had walked off with all their gear. So don't do food until you are ready would be better, I am happy to just have a pint and find somewhere else to eat.

I will probably go back though as it is a handy pub for the town centre when my wife is off shopping, and they do keep a good pint. The thing is though they need to up their game.

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Willingdon

Great pint but marked down because if you have a sign saying food till 3pm don't tell me you have stopped serving at 2:20.

The Wrekin View, Lawley Bank

Just away from Telford Town Centre and worth the walk, decent range of ales and food ok. It is a chain pub "Steakhouse" or some such but the staff are friendly and it is pretty good

The Horse and Jockey, Ironbridge

Nice pint although only one real ale on, food ok and plentiful, nice pub all round

29 Mar 2012 11:31

Coalbrookdale Inn, Coalbrookdale

Good beer but really annoying that the sign outside says Restaurant but they don't do food, oh and the Fat Frog across the road is no more

Meadow Inn, Telford

Half price food voucher meant a lovely lamb shank and a decent pint. Nice place.

15 Nov 2011 11:26

Station Inn, Telford

Now shut as I found after a long walk from the Holiday Inn

Victoria Hotel, Eastbourne

Simply the best pub in Eastbourne

The Golden Ball, Ironbridge

A nice pub, although the beer and food is a bit pricey its has relatively high standards and never fails to stick to them.

Tontine Hotel, Telford

Amazing that the pub with the best spot in Ironbridge, right opposite the bridge, is so ordinary. The night I went in there the beer was ok, but the place smelt like a deep fat fryer and the only other clientelle were, well, grubby is probably the best word to describe them.
