The Pineapple, Kentish Town

Several beers all well served. Good service. Interesting clientele. What's not to like?

The Kings Head, Islington

A gem of a pub. On the afternoon i stumbled in there was a colourful local group at the bar. A Japanese visitor taking snaps. Friendly staff and the ale was on fine form.

The Botanist On The Green, Kew

this is the bizarro Inn at Kew Gardens. But with better beer.

The Inn At Kew, Kew

I think most of the comments about this pub are too harsh and don't give a fair impression of the place. Most of the current bar staff are friendly and efficient (especially the young, shaven headed chap). The ales are pretty well kept and the food - including the breakfasts - is good. All in all The Inn is definitely in the top quartile of pubs.

The Pope's Grotto, Twickenham

We always used to joke that Youngs were famous for their pub "moderations" but this is the most radical that i've seen. The glass box has opened the pub up considerably. So much so that we might end up feeling claustrophobic in traditional boozers. The practical outcomes are more tables to eat and drink at which has to be better doesn't it? Kew Gold - on tap - was bit bland on the day. Special better.

Lowlander, Covent Garden

This is one of only a few pubs/bars in London with such a wide range of Belgian beers. There is an extensive - and changing range - on draught.

The Roundhouse, Battersea

I watched the football here on Saturday afternoon. Enough seats available and the arrangement of the screens (multiple sets spread around the pub) makes for a better experience for sport watchers and none-watchers. As others have commented the bar staff are very much on-the-ball. One lady in particular seems to serve and coach at the same time.

The Star Tavern, Belgravia

Consistently good beer. Usually an interestingly mixed crowd at various times of day/week. Rarely too busy. The crux of a good Belgravia pub crawl.

The Express Tavern, Kew Bridge

The Coach and Horses, Kew

Even by Youngs standards the quality of the ales here is consistently very high...and this applies to all the draughts - not just the "Ordinary".

The Inn At Kew, Kew

After several visits I would say that the quality of the beer - the bitter that is - is definitely above average when compared with similar "Free Houses".
