The Sir Julian Huxley, Selsdon

From Slerpy's reviews, it looks as though the New Manager was good news for the Julian Huxley but unfortunately it is very bad news for the Nonsuch in North Cheam.

Arvon Ale House, Llandrindod Wells

Steamer 1 was very fortunate ... I arrived the other Saturday on a train charter only to discover that the Arvon Ale House did not open until 16:00.

The Running Horse, Leatherhead

I was recently in Leatherhead on a Sunday and fancied a quick lunch time pint. Being listed in the GBG, I headed for The Running Horse. As I was not eating, I was made to feel most uncomfortable by one of the bar staff and will not be returning.

The Crown Inn, Penzance

The only GBG listed pub in Penzance and. in my view, the local CAMRA branch have got it about right. Good local beers and a very pleasant atmosphere. The food offering mentioned in a previous post did not appear to be available but there was an excellent Chippy just down the road. Will definitely return next time I am in Penzance.

The No Sign Wine Bar, Swansea

4 Real Ales from small breweries on and the 3 that I tried were in excellent nick. Great for a quiet pint during the day but becomes a " different beast " on a Saturday night ! Sunday Roasts looked very good ... not tried because of the imminent departure of the train back to London.

The Railway Hotel, Cheam

Called in for a quick pint after the Surrey / Gloucester game finished early at Cheam Cricket Club ( with another good Surrey win ). Last here around 30 years ago and glad to see that The Railway has evolved so well. Had an excellent pint of Cotleigh IPA before catching the train.

The White Hart, Newenden

Lovely old village pub. Rother Valley Level Best and Harveys Sussex Best were in fine fettle. Well worth looking out if you are in the area. I agree with Alerover's post in 2008 that if you are on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway, Northiam station makes an excellent alternative to Bodiam.

The Grapes, Sutton

Sadly hoppyal's latest post does little encourage me to come back to this place. The local branch of CAMRA are also shown up as being a complete bunch of buffoons for having this place listed in the current Good Beer Guide.

White Horse Inn, Washford

Recently stayed for 2 nights. A lovely rural Pub doing good business with well kept local Ales, food that is just the job and very helpful staff. Will definitely return when I am in Somerset again.

Old Ship Aground, Minehead

Recently revisited whilst down for the West Somerset Railway Steam Gala. It has been very tastefully tidied up and upgraded and is now well worth a visit. Ales in good nick ( Ringwood, due to the Marston's connection, and Otter ).

The Grapes, Sutton

Why not just put the place out of its misery and close the place completely ?
