The Halfway House, Earlsfield

The pictures on the site need updating following its refurbishment.

The old locals have been pushed out in order to make room for the young uns with far too much money. (Willing to spend about 10+ on a burger! i kid ye not).

All is fine with the ale etc (it should be at that price) and you can smoke in the beer garden. huray.

I quite like it but they have gone a bit too far on the price of the food for the quality they serve. I am used to paying too much and being ripped off every where i go but it is even more expensive than the city.

Youngs, be warned, you have reached the peak/ elastic limit of the price/ quality curve with this one.

The Bell, Cannon Street

Very nice little pub. It almost feels like a 'secret pub'. Very good sized sanwiches at lunch too for under 5.

Girls loos are a bit of a journey though down a dodgy staircase. Why is it that the men's toilet are always nearer?

The Charles Dickens, Southwark

Very nice pub.

Andy the landlord is a nice fella too. He gave me a free taste of Stormtrooper, which was lovely.

It is out of my way but i will go again.

The Halfway House, Earlsfield

Very good pub for one next to a station.

The Hole In The Wall, Waterloo

I think they are trying to achieve a 'retro atmospheric vibe' type of thing. Personally I think they are just skimping on the maintenance and cleaning costs. Eeeerrrrrr was my first thought. For practically the first time in my life, I didn't fancy any food.

Its a bit like a grotty student union bar, only not as cheap.

Its not for me.

The Hand In Hand, Wimbledon Common

I like this pub. Not as good as the Crooked Billet next door but pleasant. If next door is full this is definitely a viable option.

Yet to try food but the menu looks good.

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Horses for courses and all that!

Some people like YOM, some people like All Bar One. Some people are also insane and need to be looked up.

YOM is quite small and i don't want people who don't want to be there taking up space.

The White Hart, Thatcham

Not a bad pub at all and the lanlord was helpful as i do not knwo the area.

This is probably one of the best pubs in Thatchum.

I wish i had booked a hotel room here rather than the Wheatsheaf down the road.

The Wheatsheaf, Thatcham

I am putting this note into BITE to warn everyone not to go under any circumstances.

My boyfriend and I stayed here overnight as we were going to a friends Bday party in the area. It is by far the worst B&B I have ever stayed in and the pub downstairs was a bit suspect as well.

The pub downstairs was drab with curtains hanging off their hocks etc. They did not sell beer only larger and there was children's toys scattered all over the place.

This is bad enough but the rooms upstairs were horrendous.

Outside my room there was a pile of washing taller than me (and I am not short). There was no en suit and the shared bathroom's lock did not work. There was also a blood stain above the toilet which looked like a hand smear. Inside the room there was a can of Fosters under the bed and a corned beef packet in the draw. The ashtray had not been cleaned and the view was of the back yard which was also filled knee high with rubbish.

This cost 50, same price as a Premier Travel Inn. A Premier Travel Inn which although not the height of luxury is at least clean and with standard facilities.

I returned home glad to be still alive! You can not say you have not been warned!

O'Neills, Wimbledon

Not somewhere I would go to on a weekend evening or when there is a footie match on but for a quick drink in the week it is perfectly fine. Beer is standard and the decor is like any other o' Neil's.

I discovered their all day breakfast last week. It has to be said it is about the best you will find in Wimbledon. Black pudding included. Yum yum yum.

The Tally Ho, North Finchley

It has always been a bit of a struggle to find somewhere to have a decent drink in this area. The Wheatherspoons is one of the few options and in the past has been a bit chavtastic - random fights between lads in the late teens with their even chavier girlfriends egging them on and crying in the background. I must say though that it has improved over recent months and my visit last night was positively pleasant.

I am informed by people that know, the Spitfire and Courage were on good form.

Overall, not bad at all.

The Alexandra, Wimbledon

Why are there no decent pubs in Wimbledon? This is the best there is on offer without going to the village.

Overall it is ok (beer, food, decor) but not what I want as a local.

The Pig and Whistle, Earlsfield

Not amazing but a nice pub. It seems to be getting busier recently. Its reputation must be recovering from 'pyjama man'.

Not tried the food yet but it looks ok.

The Crooked Billet, Wimbledon Common

This is my favourite pub at the moment. Pleasant decor and nice food. There is a really fun ten pin bowling computer game as well.

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

What a fantastic pub.

On warm days you can stand outside and not be bothered by traffic as it is not by a road and if you sit inside there are a number of little rooms tucked away.

The bar snacks are yummy for a pre dinner treat, i have yet to try the extra strong mustard but will keep you informed!

Watch out when you go to the loo girls. The floor and toilet are lobsided and you will find your face slammed against the wall even though sobber. but hey it all adds to the charm.
