The Thames Hotel, Maidenhead

Well considering it was April Fools Day I thought it must have been a joke when the barmaid said the price for two beers 7.40!!!
Another price rise and they can't blame the government on this one.
I guess it must be to replace last years dead plants that still sit in the planters on the road side terrace.
You can tart up the inside all you want, but the curb appeal is not there, The Thames is not to the same calibre of Boulters or Blue River totally different ambience and location. People have been going to those two places and not the Thames for years.
I went to the Thames cause I live next door, now I will never go again Two huge price rises in 6 weeks shows they have little respect for the customer.

The Thames Hotel, Maidenhead

I was going to log in today to say how impressed I was with the finally brought up to date River Bar at the Thames Hotel, but sadly after visiting today it is logging in to say how disappointed I am.
The hotel bar has finally been brought up to present day with a very on trend makeover, and for the last 10 days I was very impressed that they did not up the prices until today when the prices have gone up. So it is the long term regulars who will be paying for this makeover.
In the last 10 days they have been pulling in a totally different "crowd" and must have seen their revenue increase and know that they would be getting some of the custom from Boulters and Riviera Hotel which appeal to a higher spending crowd.

When I looked past the new chairs and paint I found sugar packets and food on the floor, tables not wiped and chairs and tables left as the previous inhabitants had pushed them aside. If they are going to charge premium rates, I expect a more premium experience at the moment it is not much better than the Harvester down the road.

The Pied Bull, Chester

Dropped in here and wished we had stayed here a lovely charming place to while away in Chester. Extremely friendly staff and very helpful.
Excellent beer, we did not eat here but we will come back to stay and try out everything they have to offer

The Brewery Tap, Chester

I wish I could live in Chester so this place could be my local. I just thought everything about it was fantastic. Excellent beer gorgeous food and I felt the bar staff were very attentive.
I could see on a busy summers day maybe a wait, but I wish I could see it at Chirstmas I bet it is amazing.
I highly recommend

Boulters Lock Inn, Maidenhead

I have eaten in the downstairs restauant and lovely setting but the food was pricey disappointing selection and more importantly cold. The veg and potaoes were hot so I know it was not just sitting and waiting.
So we thought we would try the upstairs bar and again the meat in the burger was cool to the temperature compared to the sides orders. I know meat needs to rest but.... The staff did notice and offer a replacement but it was a little late as we had finished more than half.
We then thought third time will be the charm and went for brunch. Even though we called to make sure they were open the front door was locked. My husband found someone skulking out the back and managed to interrupt his fag break to open the door.
But it is a great place to soak in the view and that is why it gets a four!

The Railway Tavern, Hungerford

Went to Hungerford and this was the first pub I went in and it was the best!! Very nice atmosphere

Brasserie O'Neil, Paris

A wonderfuly little place to have lunch and a couple of beers. I don't think you could sit here all day long and discuss the true meaning of life. But highly recommend as a must see in Paris

The Yew Tree Inn, Highclere

We had lunch last Saturday afternoon and although it was an adventure to get there, it was certainly worth the journey and OMG the food is fantastic. The retaurant is quiet and comfortable service is just at the right level not too intrusive.
Set lunch is a bargin and the beer was well kept according to the husband.
I would highly recommend!!

The Fig Tree, Uxbridge

Came back to Uxbridge just to see how this place was doing and the gorgeous burgers are no more. They still do burgers but they are pretty standard fare. The waitress could not figure out how to bring our food correctly to the table. Even though she had just taken our order, she thought we might like 3 other orders before we got the correct one.
A real shame what was great now aint

The Fig Tree, Uxbridge

I am moving from Uxbridge and this pub could have made me stay. It's a great enviroment now. They have a delicious new burger range. The best food to be found in Uxbridge. The staff are fantastic very friendly and polite. The whole decor is going for a side that was not catered for in Uxbridge the non chav. Good chill out tunes as well. I work local so I will hopefully get to come back for the odd lunch and have told my work mates to stop in for a great experience

The Good Yarn, Uxbridge

Yes it is non-smoking enviroment now which is a plus, but one of the biggest problems with a lot of the Weatherspoon chain is the staffing levels. The bar will be 3 deep with just one person serving, but two other staffers are performing inventory on the chillers.
The tables are sticky, glasses stacked up waiting for collection. Sometimes you can think the table is occupied because of the amount of debris on them. They are cheap, food cheap but not cheerful, & some of the staff are great but some of them could improve their customer relations

The Ship Launch Inn, Ipswich

Brilliant food - you may have to wait to be seated in the restaurant area, but just relax and have a drink: the yumminess is well the worth the wait - and also worth the weight you might put on if you eat as much as you want to eat!

The Leather Bottle, Cobham

A true find, well known in the world of a Charles Dickens fan but should be a top pick for anyone who wants to find a pub that "ticks all the boxes"
They have the best bar staff, chatty friendly but not too overpowering. The food was fantastic! and a bargin. We had only gone for the day but after seeing the accommodation I wish we had booked in for the night! I bet the breakfast would be out of this world too!

The Two Brewers, Windsor

Juat go, if you don't book a table it's worth the wait for the food. An excellent and interesting pub.

The Metropolitan, Uxbridge

The revamp of this pub is an excellent improvemnet to the pubs of Uxbridge. The menu makes for interesting reading and the bar staff are good value.

The Hare and Hounds, Corsham

Very friendly, very helpful staff, excellent food. Stop here as Charles Dickens would have done in coaching times!

The Red Lion Hotel, Hillingdon

It's a great looking building from the outside and the staff for the most part are polite and fantastic (there was a girl in the restaurant, but I was told she is new) & that's about all I can say that is positive about this place. I even tried to give Sunday "Brunch" a go. But to the brains at the Red Lion the word brunch is not a combination of Breakfast and Lunch, but basically their Sunday Lunch menu with the added bonus of a cheese omlette. I am sorry to say the is more "Luneakfast" but I guess this does not look so inviting on the menu. Hey why don't you just call it "Sunday Lunch" and be done with it. I really had hoped this would have been a good place to go, and even with a 10 off coupon I went home.

The Swan and Bottle, Uxbridge

Well in February I thought this was the best place in Uxbridge but I am sad to report that The Swan has turned into an Ugly Duckling. Why change the food menu from fantastic to drastic? I went in last night to find what was a food paradise had been changed to something that you find in any old pub grub ie chicken tikka masala, fish and chips. They were not that busy and there would be a half hour wait even for starters to arrive. When the old menu was in place you did not mind the wait and when you looked around the pub every table was full of happy diners. Well last night not so much! We left and went somewhere else for dinner.

The Swan and Bottle, Uxbridge

A friend at work recommended this place a few years ago and even though I don't live local I would often make a point of seeking out a table here for one of the best meals I have ever had in a pub. Such a joy to find in uxbridge. Just go you will love it, fantastic food, big no smoking section, nice tunes and great staff
