The Union Rooms, Newcastle

A large, spacious pub with several rooms and bars, this is a typical Wetherspoons with a wide selection of reasonably priced draught beers and lagers and decent enough but relatively cheap bar meals. The atmosphere is friendly enough and the service is usually fine. Worth a visit.

The Quayside, Newcastle

Have been in this pub on a number of occasions when visiting Newcaslte (when it has been both busy and quiet) and would recommend it for both food and drink. It features a pleasant atmosphere, efficient service, reasonably low prices, decent enough food and a good range of drinks on draught. The different draught largers I have tried have always been fine as well. The pub also has two beer gardens, of which the front one opens onto the river so this is not a bad place to spend a sunny afternoon.

The Bull and Gate, Kentish Town

Called in before a concert at the HMV forum . A decent pint but the service was terrible. The bar man who appeared to be in charge was particularly rude and another bar tender was confused by our order of a Carling and a Bass. Will not be calling again. the Assembly House nearby is far superior.

The Assembly House, Kentish Town

Called in before a concert at the HMV forum a while back. Very friendly atmosphere and good quality beer. Efficient and friendly bar staff, the service was fast even when the place got busy prior to the concert, with staff often serving multiple customers at a time. (service was awful at the pub over the road). Prices not too bad either. Will call again if we happen to be in the area in the future.
