The Cross Keys, Nottingham

Re-opened a few months ago. Serves six real ales which are usually in very good nick although the selection can be a little mundane at times. Gets busy with food orders (and coffee drinkers!). On the whole tho' a decent addition to the real ale scene.

The Flowerpot, Derby

Good real ale pub with as good a selection as you'll find anywhere in Derby, although some of the prices can be a bit steep. They also serve very good food (try the sandwich platters) and play host to some very good bands most evenings. What more do you want?

Crown Inn, Beeston

Great pub! Sixteen ales on offer and five ciders to keep you going. Would recommend the bar (complete with snug) for a good night. East Midlands Pub of the Year. Has some very good beer fests too!

Station Inn, Derby

Bass served from the jug (expensive!), paranoid landlord!

The Old Silk Mill, Derby

Good real ale pub with a decent selection of ales (eight on handpull, Bass and others on gravity). Nice open fires in the winter, can be a bit quiet at lunchtimes.

The Twitchel Inn, Long Eaton

Now in the 2011 Good Beer Guide, probably the most improved pint in Long Eaton. Has its drawbacks like all 'spoon pubs, but I've rated solely on the ale quality which I've found to be very good!

The Rowditch Inn, Derby

I can only judge on my one visit. A bit out the way to go for a choice of three beers, one of which is Pedigree. Have to agree with the "Gods waiting room" comment, nice beer garden tho!

The Royal Children, Nottingham

Only ever seen five ales on during my visits, and I have to say the quality can be a bit hit and miss. OK.

Five Lamps, Derby

Recently re-opened and a new pub for me. Seemed friendly and the beer was very good. The menu looked interesting and worth a try in the future. A good addition to the real ale scene in Derby!

Stumble Inn, Long Eaton

Friendly enough pub, but doesn't seem to know if it wants to be a sports type bar or a real ale pub and, consequently, fails to be either! Had a good beer festival recently, just a shame that the beer quality isn't as good normally as it was then.

Ye Olde Dolphin Inn, Derby

Overpowering smell of vinegar and chips, a bit scruffy, average ale quality, average ale choice!

Charlton Arms, Chilwell

As the bus I was travelling on was attacked by so called customers of this pub while their parents sat and watched (and laughed!) is it hardly surprising my rating is zero!

The Hole in the Wall, Long Eaton

For a pub that's in the Good Beer Guide it was very disappointing. Very poor ale (staff didn't seem interested) and toddlers running amok! Will not bother again.
