The Crown, Sutton

Sadly, the Crown suffered a fire on 5th August 2018. Going to be closed for quite a while.

The Robin Hood, Sutton

Open again.

The new Landlod - Chris - Is already making the place so much better than it has been for years! A really friendly and welcoming chap too.

The place has had a (long overdue) clean and minor refurb.

It actually has stock now, so the beers are not running out. The bar fridges have stuff in them again.

Food offering is also improved.

The Lord Palmerston, Carshalton

Changed hands. Had a refurb.

No longer "The Lord Palmerston", but just "The Palmerston".

Long term staff got rid off. Customers boycotting the place.

The Jolly Sailors, Brancaster Staithe

Good, friendly pub.

Good beers (both their own excellent brews and boring national brands )

Pizzas are excellent. The other food on the menu was very tempting too.

Lots of seating, both in the original "nook and cranny" pubs and the open-plan extension at the back.

Friendly staff.

Would go again if in this area.

Seefood sharing platter is amazing

The Hope, Carshalton

It has just been announced that The Hope has been awarded "London Pub Of The Year 2016" by the Society for Preservation of Beers The Wood, a real ale group that pre-dates CAMRA. (The name is historic – They are concerned with quality of what is dispensed, not the material of the container).

Congratulations to all the staff, managers, directors, shareholders and, most importantly of all, the customers, on this achievement.

CAMRA Sutton & Croydon Pub Of The Year 2015.

Well done to all the staff on retaining the title of Local Pub of the Year. It is thoroughly deserved.

The Hope, Carshalton

Just been judging the pubs in Croydon for the local CAMRA pub of the year. Just kept thinking, even in the best pubs, "Very good, but not anywhere near as good as the Hope".

The Hope is how pubs should be.

The Hope, Carshalton

Congratulations to all the Staff, Shareholders and Customers on being awarded Greater London Pub Of The Year 2013 by CAMRA.

This is the first time EVER that a pub has retained this prestigious award.

It is highly deserved. The staff and owners have greatly improved the Hope since a year ago - when they were awarded London POTY 2012 - with a very high quality extension being built on the rear, the garden completely refurbished, improved food and outstanding, ever changing selections of beers (of all sytles) and ciders.

Well deserved all round.

The Abbots Ale House, Cork

Great place. Massive choice of beers (over 300 different bottles in the off-licence downstairs and over 70 on sale in the bar upstairs).

Barman is superb. Really friendly. Gets to know what you like quickly and suggests new ones to try.

Best place in Cork for people who like beers with flavour. It is not expensive either!

The Hope, Carshalton

Fab beer festival at the weekend - Shame the 10 festival beers ran out so quickly. At least there were another 15 different beers in the cellar.

The garden entertainment on the Saturday evening (Rumpledrumskin and the fire eater) were very impressive.

Well done to everyone involved and the staff who worked VERY hard to make it so good.

Crown and Anchor, Brixham

Really nice free house on the quaside in Brixham.

Visited a number of pubs while on holiday at Easter 2008 and once we found this one, stoped going elsewhere.

Friendly staff and friendly locals - all very welcoming.

A pub that is there (and has been for hundreds of years) to server the local fishing community.

They do not serve food (other than excellent crab sandwiches) but are more than happy for you to take you own food in (or use their tables outside) and eat it.

The Moon on the Hill, Sutton

If you.....like waiting 20 minutes to be served, like watery beer that is getting towards the end of it's shelf life, like having people around you litterally falling over drunk, like the smell of sick in the bar area or think that the cheaper the booze, the better the place must be......... Then this is the pub for you (and you are welcome to it)

Dear Mr. Anonymous....

If you want cheap beer - go to a wetherspoons.

I am reminded of how Price & Quality are related........ If you want good quality straw that is dry and well kept - That comes at a certain price. If you are happy with straw that has already been through a horse - That comes a little cheaper.
