The Star, Godalming

Great boozer. From perry to ale, the quality of the grog is great and the staff generally know what they are talking about. Now that the Red Lion is defunct, its the last decent pub in 'Ming. Keep it going....

The Red Lion, Godalming

In summary this pub used to be great with knowledgrable staff and the legendary hollowe'en beerfest. Then it closed down, re-opened and now a horrible, stale, smelly pub. The landlord has a huge dog that roams around the bar which is not pleasant. The beer has gone to pot and I would not dare try the food. I would never go back which is such a shame....

The Squirrel at Hurtmore, Hurtmore

Went there mid-Sat afternoon for a swift half. There was a single member of staff behind the bar who could not have been more rude (I was greeted with a grunt and no pleasantries), was more interested in fiddling with empties and distictly displeased to see a customer. Otherwise, great setting and a decent jar of TEA. Won't go back, though, which is disappointing.

The White Hart, Witley

I am not a fan of Shepherd Neame, however they make the best of it and the rest of the pub makes up for it, so well worth a visit.

The pub has some great features; a traditional feel, lounge, public bar, restaurant, beer garden and they let you bring your dog inside and are very child tolerant.

Food is well above average for a pub and has no prententions.

The Surrey Oaks, Newdigate

The finest pint of Harvey's Sussex I have ever had.

The Cricketers, Farncombe

Woo-hoo! The Cricks is back.

The ale is back on form and no more gobbing in the food by a drunken landlady. How the hell did Fullers let this place get into such a state?

The Inn On The Lake, Godalming

If you are looking for a pub for a proper ale session, then don't bother. Wrong atmosphere, wrong prices. This ain't a boozer's pub.

If you are looking for somewhere to have a half decent meal (with family or friends), pay "Surrey" prices and willing to accept changeable levels of service, then this is the place for you.

As a pub: 2/10
As a place to eat: 7/10

The Red Lion, Godalming

This used to be a great pub.

In a matter of a few weeks its been ruined... Where has the Harvey's Sussex gone? It is understaffed and those that are there are more interested in chatting to each other rather than serving and have no idea about the beer they are selling. They are also bluddy miserable. Empty glasses everywhere and unemptied ash trays laying about. My wife's red wine was like vinegar.

I really fear for this pub...
