This pub could be improved if the staff were more courteous and knew something about the beer. How to serve it etc... unfortunately the majority of staff are young teens and suffer from a lack of training. Licensee.......who is he / she??? never on site. Why do I visit it....it saves a long walk to the next pub, which incidentally is worse!!

Well kept, average priced cask beer. usually 3 guests on at any one time. Excellent food and service. Staff always friendly.

Well kept cask beer. Friendly landlord. Cheap bar food (try the stotty you will never manage a whole one)Mixed Grill �5.

Friendly pub with good food and well kept cask beer. Large open fire. Reasonable prices.

The most wonderful selection of cask beers, whiskies and bottled beer. Pints of beer from �2.10 upto �4. Food good. Large selection and reasonable portions. Service very good. Parking can be a problem.

Wonderful location and interesting olde worlde pub. However. Expensive drinks, expensive small portioned food. Do not go if n a budget. service can be appallingly slow at busy times.

The Commercial Hotel, Rainhill
Great local pub. Good beer, prices right and service first class! A tribute to the licensee and an example of how to run a good pub!
