The local nazi skinheads meet up in here on the first Saturday of each month. Why not pop along and say hello.

A hidden gem, very small interior but always a good crowd of people, good atmosphere, good music. Well worth a visit.

It's a Wetherspoons... it's pretty much the same as any other Wetherspoons. If you go in expecting a typical Wetherspoons pub you won't be disappointed will you.

What a poxy hole this place is, crap and full of scumbags. Avoid.

Yes I have also seen this happen Joe Johnson. Another time when I was in there people were snorting dried rabbit poo off of the pool table.

I haven't got mixed up with another pub when I say that the Victory is rubbish and a horrible place to drink. I know exactly which one I'm talking about. Sorry.

The reason there are no longer any chavs and nutters is because the pub no longer has any customers. I doubt even the recent desperate attempt at drumming up business by having pole dancers will work (for very long anyway.) How they manage to make enough money to stay open is beyond me.

It's a Harvester restaurant really, as opposed to a proper pub, but I find they do a suprisingly good pint of Guinness.

I think I should update my earlier review, as the place has changed so much.
Since it was taken over by new management, the place has improved drastically. Garrett the bar manager is a nice bloke and the bar staff are friendly. Good selection of beers, although they need to learn how to pour the Caffrey's without taking 20 minutes about it.
The food in here is now excellent and fairly priced. The Sunday lunch is a bargain at 7.50 for a huge plate of tasty and well cooked grub, and I think they do the best burgers of any pub in the area.
They have also been putting on some really good special events, with the "Summer of Love" event in July being a good example, an all day event with live bands and DJs to coincide with the Black Cherry Fair.
This has probably now taken over from the Crown as my favourite pub in Chertsey. However, please bar "Big Mark" from the pub as his elephant-like waddling around and oafish loud mouth just get on everyone's wick.

Yes the King's Head has finally closed down after going bust. When the new bloke took over, I predicted this would happen and it has. Hopefully whoever takes it over next will turn it back into a decent pub again.

Good place for watching football though, they've got the latest satellite dish that gets all the premiership games.

You are mistaken. The restaurant has been there for years and years now.
Anyway, as an added note I had the Sunday roast in there recently and it was magnificent. Beautiful piece of beef, perfectly cooked veg, etc. You get a free starter and dessert all in the cost of the meal (about 12 quid), the dessert must be worth a fiver on its own.
Lovely.

The Town Hall Tavern, Chertsey
Thyme at the Tavern.
Hrrrmm.
Stopped in here for a quick one last weekend and the interior has been nicely refurbished. However it is now a bit too poncey and wine-bar-ish for my liking. Nice place to take your bird out to eat by the looks of it, which I suppose is what it's intended for.

Used to be a great pub but everyone just seemed to stop going here for some reason. Why??!

Used to be the best pub in Chertsey but the new bloke who took over has ruined it. Prices shot up (used to be cheap) and whilst it used to be busy and atmospheric on a Saturday night, it's now dead. Boo.

Dunno about the Italian restaurant, but I popped in the pub for a quick one the other day and it still seemed quite dead and pony to me.

I'm a bit confused by that last review. The Crown does indeed have a restaurant, a rather large one, adjacent to the main bar and patio. I'm not sure how you missed it?! Apart from that, the Crown is a nice pub but it's just too expensive. 3.40 for a pint of Stella / Kroney or whatever. Abssolute madness.

P.S. Another thing you have to remember about The Woburn is the massive pikey campsite practically next door. So it does get full of pikeys on occasion, as does the Castle just up the road.

Used to be a great pub back in the day when it was still The Galleon. Now it is sterile, devoid of atmosphere, and rubbish. No more needs be said.

A very traditional kind of pub, popular with local people. The problem being it's a bit out of the way, and far from the town centre. Gets quite lively on occasion but is more of a place to go for a quiet drink really. I like the Grove, it's a nice place.
4 May 2007 22:46
One of the worst pubs in Chertsey... dead, no atmosphere, always empty. Dunno how they afford to keep the place going. Avoid.
4 May 2007 22:40
This place is rubbish and far too small. Must appeal to the trendy "wine bar" type crowd I suppose. For an evening of real drinking go to a proper pub.
4 May 2007 22:34
This is one of the worst pubs in Chertsey, full of the local chavs and nutters. Avoid at all costs.

The Crown Hotel, Chertsey
Did Tony get his head kicked in then? Haha.
