The Hare and Hounds, Framfield
The beer is OK, but as you value your palate, don't eat here. The contents of a chicken "fajita" were luke-warm and looked like lumpy tooth-paste. Appeared to be cubes of processed chicken in salad cream. Quite uneatable. A relief that the landlord didn't ask if everything was all right, as the choice between tact and truth would have been embarrassing.
Maybe we visited on a bad day, but we have no inention of going back to see.

Nice pub - friendly service, well kept Badger ales and good, well-priced food. What more could you ask for?

The new owners seem to be making a good job of it. Beer good, and the food is really excellent. Not cheap, even by local standards, but good value (given the quality) if you want to treat yourself. Very convenient for the Weald and Downland Museum.

The Gate Inn, Upper Brailes
This is an old favourite. Nice unpretentious village local selling well kept Hook Norton and very good, remarkably well priced food. We moved out of the area a couple of years ago and aren't back very often, but still get welcomed like old friends - landlord even remembers our usual food order. The enormous ginger Alsatian (Shade) is Huge but Harmless, and likes having his ears scratched.
