The Woolpack, London Bridge

Good beer, especially when they have becks Vier in Becks Vier glasses. Have had some very good staff and some poorer ones. In gneral friendly enough place, but as previous reviews have alluded too, their attitute changes somewhat as 11pm approaches as about 1 member of staff comes up to you every 10 seconds reminding it will be time to leave soon.

Good that they take bookings for areas in advance and table service is a plus. However, I feel the pub is miss-managed because it should treat regular customer's better. Last time we were in there, after spending hundreds of pounds already we were informed that table service would stop immediately and we would have to chance it at the bar which was 3 or 4 deep all the way round.

Better managed and it could be a great pub.

The Lord Nelson, Cheam

Went in here the other Sunday evening for a quick couple before a Chinese with some old friends.

Decent London Pride, reasonable selection of lagers. An attractive young bar lady with a nice smile. Would have tried to get her number if I was in there for longer.

Clean, trouble-free and bright. I will be returning when in the area.

The Harrow Inn, Cheam

Very reasonable food and drink prices. Sometimes the bar service and quick and efficient, and other times it is slow and poor.

It was at it's best 5 years ago before too many 18-24 year old Sutton clubbers started beginning their nights in here. Have seen some terrible fights outside the place.

Hadn't gone in a long time before returning for my birthday with around 50 of my friends and the pub was reasonably quiet but had a much nicer atmosphere to it. That was a Wednesday night so not sure how it is at weekends these days.

The Railway Hotel, Cheam

This pub has character in abundance. Thankfully you don't get the hoardes of rough lads that you can do in the Harrow on a Friday and Saturday evening.

Yes you'll struggle to get a seat due to it's small size but great bar staff, eccentric locals and a trouble-free atmosphere make this little boozer Cheam's best.

You'll never find an attractive young lady in here but stale ham rolls and smiles more than make up for that.

Tu Chicas, Wimbledon Park

Very decent food at excellent prices and good service. Will come back here again for sure.

The Slug and Lettuce, Wimbledon

Went here 2 weeks ago after we had to wait an hour for a film at Odeon to start. Got ID'd by someone 10 years my junior. Go out regularly and have not been ID'd in years! They missed out on our trade that night and they won't be getting it again any time soon because we rarely take ID out with us on a weeknight.

On the times we have been in before, the pub is particularly devoid of character during the week and feels cold, old and the atmosphere would make a graveyard look lively.

In contrast it is very lively at the weekend, normally full of Antipodeans. Male clientel in there is generally quite rude but given their discount drink prices I suppose if you've been in there on the piss all day you might lose your manners

The Prince of Wales, Wimbledon

Could do with friendlier staff. Has the setting, location and furniture of a potentiall good pub but obviously very miss-managed.

Was told I had to pay for a round by card, so had to leave to find the nearest cash point (there aren't many in Wimbledon). 5 minutes later I returned from the cashpoint to tell them that the cash point wasn't working and they let me pay on card anyway after initially telling me it was impossible.

Treat your customers with more respect and you might have more regularls, thus making the atmosphere better. I imagine it's the sort of pub that does a decent trade for it's location, not for any other reason.

Henry J. Bean's Bar & Grill, Wimbledon

Quite decent when it opened but these days it's about 75% blokes and 25% women.

Remains one of the only pubs that I have ever been chucked out of, and 2 times at that, for doing absolutely nothing. Very perculiar security policy ruins the excellent bar staff service.

Expensive at weekends but some good drinks deals during the week at happy hour. Food is slightly better than average too.

I won't ever go there again personally, but I'd recommend you try it at least once.

Edwards, Wimbledon

Full of chavs on a Friday and Saturday night. Suprisingly it doesn't take as long to get served as you think it might when it gets busy. Reasonably good bar staff and some decent drinks deals during the week.

Would only really go there to laugh at the youngsters of today and remind ourselves of what we were or weren't like when we were their age.

Bertie's Bar, Wimbledon

This place is partly responsible for me losing my V plates many years ago, but we won't go into that.

Very reasonably priced cocktails (2-4-1, think on Thursday only) and a very unique atmosphere make Bertie's an interesting place to visit.

Would quite happily always pop in there for 1 if doing a crawl around Wimbledon. Much prefer it to the Prince Charles situated above.

I wonder what it's like on a Friday evening these days?
