The Corn Dolly, Bradford

Hard to fault, I've been frequenting this pub for over ten years.

Constantly changing selection of real ales (Always four guest ales, as well as Black Sheep and several others resident) friendly bar staff, and whilst they do food, it's kept to a sensible selection of light bar lunches so as not to detract from the drinking.

Avoid Thursdays... it's Pool night, and if there is a home match that can be half of the pub taken up. On other nights though, the Pool table is 40p a go - bargain!

Just has one TV and no Sky...you can figure out yourself if that is a good or bad thing.

Symposium Ale and Wine Bar, Idle

This is a great place to visit in Summer and drink real ale on the terrace. However, if driven indoors by the weather it tends to lean towards the food side of things - which is good but rather expensive. Definitely worth a visit, but unlike other pubs owned by the same guys (Especially the Narrow Boat in Skipton) it feels more like a restaurant.

The Boathouse Inn, Saltaire

This pub was eventually abandoned by it's owners and subsequently attacked by vandals! Ridiculous as only a moron could not make money in Saltaire. Hopefully a new owner will sort it out

The Victoria Hotel, Shipley

A pub of two halves... several (6+) real ales on and friendly staff are a good thing. A massive over-reliance on tedious quiz nights, karaoke and other nonsense are bad. Should stick with what it does well, but with Fanny's across the road, admittedly it may be hard to entice the discerning drinker.

The Sun Hotel, Shipley

Used to be a Wetherspoons, until they opened a Lloyds bar directly opposite. Expect cheap food and drink, accompanied by 'colourful' regulars.

The Ring of Bells, Shipley

Seems no one has commented on this pub so I'll leave a slightly longer review than I normally do.

Good points - this is a really nice traditional pub building, also there are usually a couple of real ales on.

Bad points - food service generally somewhere between slow and very slow.

Notes - this is a very sporty pub - the place is filled with TV screens, though there is an excellent snug where you can typically turn off the little TV without complaint. Every other room has projectors or big widescreen affairs. The snug also has a dartboard and a scoring machine - cool!

Summary - This is a proper local with lots of regulars - perfect if you want to watch the football. Don't expect anything special in terms of beer or food.

Sir Norman Rae, Shipley

Totally typical Wetherspoons / Lloyds No. 1 so you know what to expect. As usual, the pub is trying to be nicer than the clientele attracted by the cheap booze and food allow it to be. Fine for a quick pint (and they do have real ales) or a cheap and decent meal but steer well clear on a Friday / Saturday night.

The Connection Restaurant, Shipley

Very average food...not bad in any way but absolutely nothing to stand out either. Based only one visit, granted, but I can't see any reason to return... Shipley has much better places to eat.

The Narrow Boat, Skipton

Pardon me gushing, but this may be the best pub I have ever been to.

Visited last week after a trip round many Skipton pubs, and this was by far the best. A bewilderingly huge list of beers, really nice compromise between pub / wine bar kind of atmosphere, and a cool balcony where one can sip ones pint and survery those below.

It was only after being there a while we realised it was run by the same guys who own the Symposium in Idle and Bar T'at in lkley (and also others we haven't been to). Those are both good but The Narrow Boat is the best of the three by far.

Apart from the huge geographical error on the wall mural (Hint: look at Shipley and Saltaire!) this is pretty much faultless. Full marks.

Fanny's Ale And Cider House, Saltaire

Fanny's is a local legend and well worth a visit. Good points - lots of real ales and other oddities, real fires, and a genuine dog-under-table proper pub kind of feel. This is the sort of place where a pub lunch consists of pork scratchings. Bad points? Well, the pub has been extended twice but the bar is itself is tiny, so getting served can be a chore. The staff can be grumpy but that's probably explained by my previous point. Really, if you find yourself in Shipley or Saltaire, there's no excuse for not visiting Fanny's at last once.

The Noble Comb, Shipley

The Noble Comb is fine as long as you know what to expect, and frankly you'd be an idiot not to as you can tell a mile off what this pub will be like!

It's not a drinkers pub, it's definitely for eating in with a slight family slant. But the food is cheap (It's in the chain which offers all meals 2 for 1) and the pub is huge so you can hide from any especially horrible patrons - or their children. We've eaten here several times... never anything out of the ordinary, but every time our food has been quick, correct and tasty. Fine for a quick meal - drinkers - go elsewhere.
