The Royal Oak, Kippax

Awful, just awful. Like a youth club. No decent beer. Dirty.

The Red Lion, Ossett

My local. Gets crowded around the bar, new management slightly deaf, food potential not being optimised, back dining room virtually unused. Apart from that, good guest ales, good atmosphere. Nice in winter when fires on!

The Horse and Jockey Inn, Ossett

Oh dear but cheap beer. Don't go near if you value your lungs....

The Maltings, York

Brilliant! Great atmosphere, loads of beers to choose from. I would have tried the ciders on offer but was driving. I had a chip butty and didnt eat for the rest of the day! My fella had chilli & chips, not as firey as reputed but gorgeous all the same! We could have stayed all afternoon. Everything a proper pub should be! Can't wait to return.

The Golden Fleece, York

Nice pub, deceiving from the outside as it looks tiny but it's soooo long inside! Beers nothing to write home about, only one real ale. The pub has a nice feel, I went in Monday lunchtime and there were plenty of people in who know where to go to get good food. I went back later the same day for dinner as they serve until 7pm. Supposedly haunted but I didnt see any goolies!

The Hansom Cab, York

Lovely pub, lots of wood panels which are so well polished they gleam. Cheap beer of course being a Sam Smiths. Very central York. Brian and Trish the new owners doing great job. I will definitely return! Recommended!!!

The Savile Arms, Thornhill

Mmm nice cosy pub, nice ales with guests too. I'm always cold in this pub though, think it's haunted! Yes, the mural, it's very clever, good idea but reminds me of a youth club's decor. Worth a visit though!

The Brewers Pride, Ossett

I live in Ossett and this is my favourite pub! My boyfriend and I have been visiting for about a year now. We normally go at weekends, saturday lunchtime is popular with us as we pop down for lunch and it's got such a nice atmosphere, we dont want to leave once we're there! My boyfriend likes to sample the different ales whereas I normally stick to a cider or two. It's a dog-friendly pub and many people obviously combine walking the dog with a pint in the Brewers! The weekly (Weds) food nights are popular, they have steak, pie and curry on a rotation and live music a couple of times a month. It's a bit out of the way but well worth seeking out.
