The Lamb, Frome

What an excellent bar! Good range of tasty well kept draught beers, a couple of proper ciders and a decent range of spirits. Pleasant service, good value food (Pieminster Pies amongst others) and comfortable surroundings.
Lacks a bit of atmosphere, possibly not helped by often being fairly quiet (seems the good folk of Frome dont sup much on a sunday night) but makes up for this by the fact that its utterly free of the types who feel its impossible to have a conversation without shouting obscenities at each other.

Inn For A Penny, Carlton

Can get extremely smokey, some locals may be very territorial and loudly aggressive, pool table attracts a younger clientele. No real beer.

It's In The Bank, Netherfield

It looks grotty and could do with a damn good clean but the landlord and lady do really try to make this a reasonable place to drink. Despite some less than salubrious punters I've never seen any trouble in here and whilst it wouldnt normally be my choice of a local, there is a reasonable atmosphere.

Powers Bar, Kilburn

Yes it was the Cole Pitz several years ago, sorry no idea about the names you mention. It was ( and still may be AFAIK) owned by Vince Power of Mean Fiddler fame, as is/was the zinc bar over the road.

Brondes Age, Kilburn

"Great Pub!! one of londons best!"
Huh??
It's acceptable but nothing worth getting excited about or travelling further than one tube stop for... Maybe great in the context of some of the other considerably less salubrious venues around Kilburn but certainly not one of London's best.

The Half and Half, Croydon

I just wish I could visit more often. You gave me a great 40th birthday beer festival last year, hoping for a 41st! Thanks Graeme and all the crew who make BC such a great place to drink.

The Wine Library, Tower Hill

I'd agree with virtually all of the above comments apart from the allegation of it being quite expensive.
Whilst it is possible to spend an enormous amount of money - some wines are well over 100 a bottle - all of the wines are at normal retail prices plus a fixed corkage (5 per bottle I think) Therefore that bottle of Chablis which is normally on sale at a wine bar or restaurant at 100%+ mark up is going to be cheaper, as more noticably is the 50 bottle of claret, (50 + 5 instead of 100% mark up). The whole point of this is to get peole to trade up and try new wines, possibly buying to take away or to have delivered. I'd be very surprised if any of the wines on offer here were available to drink "in situ" at such low prices anywhere else. Quirky and unique with knowledgable staff and extremely busy, especially at lunchtimes - booking advised.
