The Express Tavern, Kew Bridge

Visited here last night, great, perfect pint of Bass, which was off when we got there but it reappeared later and we consumed loads of it. Great selection of other real ales, a loyalty card and good staff. We'll be back.

The Bell Inn, Nottingham

Hmm, popped in here yesterday and my wife, dressed in the loudest red coat you imagine, she got completely ignored by the bar staff. She was waiting to order, money in hand and yet 2 other people turned up after us and they got served first! Poor training there, if there was any training at all. It wasn't even that busy, we just left and still were not noticed. Went to The Dragon instead, what a contrast.

The Sir John Borlase Warren, Nottingham

This is now my favourite pub In Nottingham, great friendly staff and very knowledegable, great beer festival this past weekend. They also serve a cracking pint of Bass, what is there not to like?

The Grove Inn, Holbeck

Wow! What an amazing pub, visited here last month. Great, well kept beer with knowledgeable staff. The rooms are something else, quite simply a proper pub.

The Fernandes Brewery Tap and Bier Keller, Wakefield

Visited here last month, excellent pub, good beer and friendly.

The Black Rock, Wakefield

Recently spent a weekend in Wakey and this was the last pub we visited, wished we'd found it sooner. Great pub, good beer, well kept by the very knowledgable landlord. Friendly locals, good decor, we didn't want to leave.

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch

Fantastic pub. I've been going here for many years now and am never disappointed with the beer. The magnificent Brewers Gold is quite something else. I've drunk this in many pubs but this is the best pulled pint of it. The other reason I love this pub so much is that I met my wife to be there last year and that in itself makes this one of our favourite boozers.

The Hand and Heart, Nottingham

Best pub in Nottingham, great selection of real ale, helpful staff and a friendly atmosphere. The pumps have little jam jars with the the beer in, so you know what you are getting in terms of colour, the knowledegable staff can help you out with any other beer related queries.

The Horse and Jockey, Stapleford

Great pub, with a fine selection of real ales. The only decent pub in the area, well worth a bus trip from Nottingham.

Black Swan, Bowns Hill

Nice little pub, went there a few times on our recent trip to the Peaks. Beer selection was a bit limited but a friendly pub.

Cliff Inn, Matlock

Great pub. We went here for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago, great food, my lovely lady had a pie, which she said was the best she had ever had. She is always right. Good selection of guest ales as well, friendly staff.

The Hollybush Inn, Makeney

Great little find on our treks around the Peaks. Top landlord, top location, top beers. A fine selection of locally brewed ales, cosy interior, busy but friendly. On the pumps of the local beers they have the flag of Derbyshire, which we thought was a really nice touch.

The King William IV, Milford

Cracking little boozer. Visited on our holiday in the Peaks on the second day of their beer festival. Great selection of beers and a cracking atmosphere, very helpful bar staff, he gave us bus timetable information as well as good beers! Dog friendly, just a good old English pub.

Cross Keys, Belper

The best pub in Belper bar none. Cracking pint of Bass, good mix of clientele, friendly landlord who also has a very friendly dog. Traditional interior just a nice pub.

The Thorn Tree, Matlock

Recently visited this wonderful little boozer whilst on holiday in the Peaks. Best pub grub we have had in a long time, massive portions, great value and tasty to boot. Outstanding pint of Bass or 2. Very busy at lunchtime, great quirky interior and friendly knowledgeable staff. Would definitely return.

The Star Inn, Bath

Best pub in Bath. Bass staight out of the barrel and a lovely pint too. Quirky interior and interesting locals. Everything a pub should be, no TV, no piped music, no fruit machines, just chat and good beer.

The Still and Star, Aldgate

Great friendly pub. I take Jack The Ripper walks and we always pop in here for a few. Nice rotating guest beers, last night they had on, Marstons Sunbeam, very good too and a great pint of Youngs. Food good as well. This is what I call a proper pub and defintely the best in the area.

The Victory Inn, Brighton

Was in Brighton yesterday with a group of workmates. 5 couples and 3 single men. The oldest being 56, the youngest being 30. Real ale and wine drinkers, average age about 40. They refused to serve us as they said they did not serve groups. I asked them what size is a group, they told me 5, yet there was a party of 8 drinking outside.
I really liked this pub and I'd organised a pub crawl with this pub being one of the highlights, now I will never visit it again. 13 of us all with money to spend, all worked out OK as we just went to another pub and gave them our money instead.

The Carpenters Arms, Windsor

Great pub, visited there today for lunch. Lovely food and a wonderful pint of, Knight Of The Garter. Good staff, clean, good clientele, the sort of pub you feel at home in.

The Ferry, Cookham

Lovely location but what a disappointment this was. Visited there today in glorious sunshine. Looking forward to lunch and some real ale. Three pumps, two turned round and only, Doom Bar on, which is fine. However when I went to order it I was told it wasn't ready yet and they couldn't guarantee when it would be ready!
Had to wait ages for food and then they stopped taking food orders because of the demand, I cancelled my food order after waiting 20 minutes for it I was told I would have to wait at least another 20 minutes, I only ordered a sandwich!! What a shame, never again.

The White Horse, Parsons Green

My family have been using this pub for over 100 years, that's 3 generations. I first started drinking here back in the early 1980's, when it was all Bass and Charrington IPA. This is still one of the best pubs in London, if not the UK. Never had a bad pint, staff are always excellent, well trained and interesting.

It's the selection of beers that keep me coming back though. I'm lucky that I only live 2 minutes from it. Proper pub, that has now a good mix of eclectic clientele, a lot of working class people have started returning and it makes for a good bohemian atmosphere.

The food is also very good and well priced, I still love this pub, have spent many happy times here. My brothers drank here back in the '70's and '80's, they joined CAMRA back in the early days. It's a friendly place in a great location and has something for everyone.

The Kings Arms, Arundel

One of my favourite pubs. Always well kept beer, the Arundel Gold expecially. Great staff and friendly locals. Top place to visit in this, most wonderful of English towns.

The Ribs of Beef, Norwich

What a wonderful little find this was, good beer, good staff, good location. Would definitely revsisit.

26 Jul 2010 19:36

The Fat Cat, Norwich

Visited Norwich at the weekend and made two trips to this amazing pub. The Fat Cat bitter and Golden Delicious are what we both had but really we were spoilt for choice.

A proper pub, local people, no TV, no music, no fruit machine, just conversation. The beer was well kept and the staff were very good, missing it already and my local is The White Horse on Parsons Green!

The Harp, Covent Garden

Been going here for a few years now and still love the place. Football free zone last night, which was the incentive, not that I need one, to down a few. The glorious Crouch Vale's Brewers Gold was on, alongside some Dark Star beers.

Staff, as always, helpful and knowledgable, really is the best pub in Central London. The beer is well kept as well and the ever changing rota of beers ensures that I keep returning.

The Marquess of Anglesey, Covent Garden

Visited here yesterday. Ordered a pint of Young's London Gold. It was not good. Returned it and told them it was a bad pint and the young barmaid said, that, 'Nobody else has complained', bad attitude. I used to like this pub, will not be going again.

6 Jun 2010 19:00

The Marquis of Granby, Covent Garden

Sorry, this is on the wrong place, should be the Marquess Of Anglesey! D'oh!
